When I run the following command on sql server:
exec ('print "OK"')
go
This message appears:
Server: Msg 128, Level 15, State 1, Line 1
The name 'OK' is not permitted in this context. Only constants,
expressions, or variables allowed here. Column names are not permitted.
Why? Thanks.

Because when the setting QUOTED_IDENTIFI ER is in effect, "" delmits
identifier. This permits you to use table names like Order Details, for
instance:
SELECT ... FROM "Order Details"
In the SQL Server world, we tend to use [] for this function, but "" is
what ANSI mandates.
QUOTED_IDENTIFI ER is on by default in most contexts, but not when you
run from SQLCMD, OSQL or Enterprise Manager in SQL 2000. Or for that
matter all DB-Library applications.
When the setting is off, SQL Server reverts to the original behaviour
from 4.x days when you couls use both '' and "" to delimit strings.

Something like this will work
exec ('print ''OK''') . *Note: all are single quotes.
or you'll have to use SET QUOTED_IDENTIFI ER OFF and then execute the
SQL.

like some information about the requesting client, including its reverse
IP. I would like the 404 page to be returned to the client's browser
immediately, after invoking another function or script that takes care

I store sql-commands in a database table. In the first step I get the
sql command out of the database table with embedded sql. In the second
step I try to execute the command, which i got from the database
table, using dynamic sql.

I have a TSQL script to add daily tables to replication and then run
the snapshot agent to distribute them to two subscribers. The script
executes without errors, but when I check the running jobs for each
server I see the following:
JUST AN EXAMPLE
Job1 'Category' REPL-Snapshot

What is the difference between these two categories? Also 'Job1' works

Are there any obvious errors in the html code below? All except the #exec
command function as would be expected, but there is no action from
exectst.cgi - a compiled c program that's shown under the html code.
This is being tested from one of panix.com's shell accounts which, I
beleive, will accept html code with an #exec command.

Are there any obvious errors in the html or c code below? Without the #exec line in the html code, the text from pag1p1 and einst both show as would be expected.
