Hi,
Currently we're a building a metadatadriven datawarehouse in SQL
Server 2000. We're investigating the possibility of the updating
tables with enormeous number of updates and insert and the use of
checkpoints (for simple recovery and Backup Log for full recovery).
On several website people speak about full transaction log and the
pace of growing can't keep up with the update. Therefore we want to
create a script which flushes the...

How do I get the next int value for a column before I do an insert in
MY SQL Server 2000? I'm currently using Oracle sequence and doing
something like:
select seq.nextval from dual;
Then I do my insert into 3 different table all using the same uniqueID.
I can't use the @@identity function because my application uses a
connection pool and it's not garanteed that a connection won't be used

Hi,
I need an auto incrementing field that will contain values like
N000001, N000002, N000003 etc.
I think the way is to use the value from an identity field in a stored
procedure that is triggered at insert.
I can't see that it can be made in pure SQL, but Java is not a problem.
Any of you that can tell me the way of doing it ?

Hello,
I would like to know Identity OR sequence which is better?.
My requirement is simple. I have a parent table with ID (generated or
from sequence) and I want that ID after inserting parent record so
that I could use it for Child table(S).
I read in on the the thread ibm is planning to deprecate
identity_val_local() function in future. Appreciate the DB2 experts

Hi:
we have column with GENERATED ALWAYS AS DEFAULT. So, we can insert into
this column manually and also let db2 generate a value for this column.
Given a scenario, how can i find the NEXTVAL for this identity column?
We can do "VALUED NEXTVAL FOR SEQUENCE", but for identity how can it be
done?

I got an Access database that need to be converted to Oracle 9i.
Somehow the Trigger we created to simulate the "AUTO NUMBER" on Access
could not create the sequence number as soon as the value has been
inserted. The sequence number can only be created after we go to the
second line. Please see the trigger below.
Is there anyway we could create a trigger that could create the
sequence number as soon as we enter a value? It should be...

HI People,
Thanks to all who helped me earlier on the subject of @@IDentity. However, I
seem to have hit another snagette!
My DataSet contains two tables from the SQL Server. lets say Master and
Details. The way I have it set up is that a relationship exists in the
DataSet between the two to force referential integrety etc.
I am now able to a master record in the master table and add records to the

Hello
We are having some problems with triggers, sequences and union all in
V8 on code that worked fine in V7. Was wondering if someone else has
seen this and/or knows what to do.
A trigger that runs after insert on, where the insert uses nextval on a
sequence for the key and the trigger uses union all we get this

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
