I have been trying to do a query(view) in Enterprise Manger and Query
Analyzer with a timeout result everytime. In EM in happens in about
30 seconds and in QA it happens in about 45 seconds.
I am running the query directly on a W2003SBS server with SQL Server
2000 (V 8.00.2039 )running on the server.
The message is simply
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired
I have set all the time out properties I have seen and that have been
mentioned in these forums to no avail.
I have tried rewriting several of these queries also to no avail.
I am working with a database of 140 million records and have indexed
all the pertinent fields.
I have seen some info up here about a bug in SQL 2000 that impacts EM
and not QA (Q247070), but I can't QA to work either. I seem to have
no impact on the length of the timeout. The query is not that
complicated, but does go against 140M records. I should be able to
set thetimeout longer to let this run.
Any ideas.
Thanks,

I don't think the timeout in Enterprise Manager is controllable.
In Query Analyzer you set it under Tools->Options->Connection->Query Timeout
(in seconds). By default it's 0, which means forever, so you would only
get a timeout if someone has changed it.
If the view refers to remote tables, you could get a timeout for the
remote part of the view, but this timeout is by default 10 minutes.

Hi all,
I am doing some large updates,
that may update 10,000 plus rows.
This works fine when I execute the SQL directly
in Query Analyzer.
If I set the timeout on my VB connection to 0 (zero)
the connection should not time out????

Hello,
What could possibly cause data in the SQL server database to be
removed, except being deleted manually? We had a couple of situations
where data in certain records disappeared although the records were
still there. The data is entered and editted through the web interface
in ASP. The web interface is accessed by anyone who has an account in
our database.
I am more of a web programmer, not a SQL server administrator, so not

I have a single server running SQL Server 2000 sp3a, and acting as a ASP.NET

Everything works fine, but sometimes when I execute a particular stored

Group,
I have a Web application sitting on a staging server that is using SQL
Server 2000 as its data store, and I can run the application flawlessly.
Now, when I copy the project to my localhost and run the application, using
the same SQL Server, I keep on receiving a SQLException Timeout expired. Any
ideas how I can remedy this?

I was doing update statements in SQL Server 2000.
I have a table with over 16 million rows.
It came from several hundred delimited text files,

Structure is X12 (835). For those unfamiliar with that,
each file has one to many BPR lines; each BPR line has

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
