Background: I am using a MS Access 2000 front end with SQL Server 8.0 back end. I have the requirement to import all text files (regardless of filename) from a given folder on the network into a table within SQL Server. This import needs to run continuously, as more text files will be saved in the folder by a separate system and they need to be updated into the SQL Server table. I have a DTS which can import all text files from the...

I posted this problem a couple of days ago but felt I might have better luck re-stating the problem. Apparently I messed up IIS (v. 5) somehow because I am suddenly unable to load web forms! A simple example will help. I created a simple web project that contains two simple forms ... WebForm1 and WebForm2. WebForm1 has a button which when clicked simply does a Response.Redirect("WebForm2.aspx"). When I run the program and click the...

I have a routine that is called on Page_Init. It retrieves folder records from a database which I display as Link Buttons in a table cell. I set the table cell's bgcolor to a default color (say black for example). I am dynamically creating the LinkButton controls and adding them into the table cell and I've also hooked up an event handler for each LinkButton's Click event. This all works fine. Now in the Link Button's Click event...

I have access, for testing at my client's site, a Win2000 computer running A2003 retail. He recently upgraded all of his other machines to DualCore Pentiums with 2 gig ram and run A2003 runtime. I believe all current SPs for Windows and Office are installed on the fast machines. I have 1 process/subroutine that has worked for a couple of years without a problem. It works fine on the testing (slow) machine. The process checks a folder...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
