Two c# dll's were compiled and added to the GAC.
They appear in the .NET Configuration tool.
However, when trying to add a reference to a new project, the dlls do
not appear in the .NET property sheet.
Why not?

I have installed Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Beta 2, including SQL Server
2005 Express Edition April CTP, on Windows XP Professional SP2, including IIS
5.1. The SQL Server (SQLEXRPESS) service is running under the NT
AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. This machine is named VSDev01WSWP01.
I am also running SQL Server 2000 on a Windows Server 2003 computer named

I am having problems using VB.Net's Management base object on a
machine hosting Windows Server 2003. I am trying to set file
permissions from a Windows Service. These files may be loacted on a
local machine or somewhere on the network. I use the Management Base
Object to set these permissions which works perfectly when the windows
service is running on an XP machine. However, when the service is
running on a Windows Server 2003 machine I...

Hi,
When I click on the properties of a linked server, all the General
properties are read - only, which means that if I want to edit any
general properties I have to delete the linked server and recreate it.
Needless to say this is a pain. Is this by design or some kind of bug?
Is there a workaround?
Thanks

I'm calling several SQL Server 2005 stored procedures from Visual Basic
2005. I've got one stored procedure that locks up at the same point
everytime, but if I copy the stored procedure from the SQL Profiler
trace and paste it into SQL Server Management Studio it runs fine -- I
even tried setting the timeout in Visual Studio to unlimited to see if
the procedure would ever complete and it doesn't. What the hell is
going on? Here is the...

I recently installed SQL Server 2005 (Management Studio Express) along
with SQL Server 2005 Express (Configuration Manager) in my Win2K Pro
m/c & use IIS 5.0 to run ASPX projects. I could add my database, named
"MyDB", successfully. I am using the Windows Authentication mode to
login to SQL Server. My server name is "AD\SQLEXPRESS" where "AD" is
the name of my m/c.
I could even establish a connection to the server & the database from...

I am trying to log events to SQL Server instead of the computers event
log, but, although I get no errors, I have no luck. The
webevents_events table is empty. I have a custom event that I am
raising (passwordchange), and can see it beign raised
successfully...just it seems to go nowhere. I have run aspnet_regsql
to setup the database to handle event recording. I am fairly sure I am
missing something in my web.config file. (I would...

First off, I built this application w/ Visual Studio 2005 SP1 and had it
working perfectly on my Windows XP machine on SQL Server 2005 Express. I
decided to publish this application to a test development server (with both
the SQL and IIS servers on the same box) running on:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
