I have observed that a temporary loss of a domain controller can cause
problems creating new ado connections between a client machine running
ado and a separate sql server machine that are members of the domain.
I understand why this happens when creating connections with windows
authentication. What is a mystery is that it also sometimes effects
new connections that use "sql authentication". Below is a description
of my test scenario.

I have an ASP.net application using SQL Server 2000 that every once in a
while I am getting this error:
"System.InvalidOperationException: Timeout expired. The timeout period
elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have
occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was

MSDE is throttled for 8 concurrent operations. As ASP.net is designed around
disconnected recordsets, I'm wondering how busy a site using ASP.net would
have to get before the workload governor starts to have a noticeable effect.
Anyone have any experience of this or guidelines?

Hi,
I have an asp.net application which runs from a CD-ROM using Cassini. As
such, it is single user only.
The application connects to an Access database when it is loaded, and
keeps the same connection open all the time (as it's single user, this
shouldn't be a problem).

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
