I need some help with formatting some text received from a database
query. I am only selecting a single row per query so the formatting
will only be performed on a single row. The rows I need to format
upon display to the user are currently in text like so: word1 word2
word3 word4 (note there are only spaces between each word)
I just want to insert a character between each word when displayed. A
dash, for example. I want it to look...

I am trying to store formatted text (windows format) into a MySQL
database and then retrieve it. The field in the database is a
varchar. I cut and paste the test into a form field formatted, then
call the PHP program to add the record using POST. When I get the
text out, it has lost it's formatting. Formatting in the text is
achieved by multiple spaces not tabs, but even multiple spaces are

Hi,
I am still stick on the text file being imported to database. Can anybody help?
I have just done the csv format files. And then I work on text and DAT formats, but I have problem to import these kinds of formats to MySQL ( and MS SQL)

Hello,
I am receiving a text file that is produced from a mainframe that is
out of my control. I am attempting to find a (hopefully clean) way to
import it into a SQL Server database in an automated fashion. I am
not really concerned about how many tables it requires or what the
schema looks like as long as the data remains related and ends up in
its respective fields (I will probably use scratch tables for this).

Hi there
Have a database, where front-end interface allows user to select a ms
access database. From there, standard tables are linked. Routine,
that creates a spreadsheet, for each table a separate sheet within
spreadsheet is created. Particular fields are selected.
User requires fields to be auto-fitted. Problem, is that some tables
have more than 1200> rows. Code generates error message. Is there a
