sa Vs sysadmin login

is there a difference in the previleges of 'sa' login and other login
with 'sysadmin' role (and 'db_owner' for all databases) ?
can they do the exact same things ?

sa is a member of the sysadmin role, so there's no difference.
Microsoft recommends that you don't use the sa account anyway - Books
Online says it's there for backwards compatibility only. See "System
Administrator (sa) Login" in BOL.

I recently posted this sort of question to the c.l.p.m but didn't get much of a response. I know a little Perl and a little Python, but master neither at the moment. I see that Python is a general purpose OO programming language that finds use among some system administrators, but my guess is that Perl is still more common in that area than Python. For sysadmin-related tasks, is Python as useful as Perl, or does it get clumsy when...

Hello, I would like to know is it possible to disable drop database for sa or sysadmin. If saor sysadmin needs to drop the database , he/she may have to change status in one of the system tables (sysdatabases ?) and then only database can be dropped . This is to avoid dropping the database by mistake by sa. In books online under drop database System databases (msdb, master, model, tempdb) cannot be dropped

Platform: Win2000 SP3, SQL 7.00 - 7.00.1063 I have a SQL-authenticated user with the following permissions: "Process Administrators" server role "db_owner" and "TargetServersRole" for msdb database "db_owner" for master database. The problem is that when this user opens up any job (i.e. owned by any user) in the SQL Server Agent, and goes to the Notifications tab, the first three alerts (Email, Page and Net send) are greyed out, i.e.

SQL Server 2000 SP5a on Windows 2000 SP4 Friday morning we discovered that we no longer have sysadmin privileges. We were able to query the syslogins table. In the output we can clearly see that our accounts do have the sysadmin privileges, since there is a 1 in that column. But yet we do not have sysadmin privs!?!?!?!??!?!? Puzzling. We are not able to get into the SA account, since no one knows the password. But we are in...

I've been a sysadmin for about 13 years, but I'm realizing that my favorite part of being a sysadmin are those moments where there's a reason to write some code - preferably in python. What might one do to make the transition from sysadmin to python programmer, aside from the basics like coming up with a python heavy resume and putting some python projects on the web? Thanks!

I'm having the worst time trying to login to myspace through code. Can someone tell me how to do this? Please try it yourself before replying, only because I have asked this a couple of times in the past in other places, and while the help was much appreciated, it seemed everyone just wanted to 'theoretically' explain how to do it, but when I tried to do it myself, I couldn't login. I want to simply pass the email address and password to...

Currently I am working on MSN Project which has been developed in ASP.Net 2.0 and Backend is SQL Server 2005. Right now our application requirement is that we have to create the Job at runtime through WINDOWS UI which earlier we were doing using ‘sysadmin’ database user and for running the ‘SQL Job’ (which internally uses ‘xp_cmdshell’), we have created the Credential with ‘Windows LogOn account’who is admin on the SQL machine. Thus...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
