Session State InProc. HELP??????

Hi

Can anyone help me with Session Management in ASP.NET. I have a web
application with a login page and i need to retain the username after
he logs in. This is what I have in Config Files
Global.asax

<OBJECT RUNAT="SERVER" SCOPE="SESSION" ID="MyInfo"
PROGID="Scripti ng.Dictionary">
</OBJECT>

web.config

<configuratio n>
<!-- This section stores your SQL configuration as an appsetting
called
conn. You can name this setting anything you would like.
-->
<appSettings>
<add key="conn"
value="server=A DVAITH;database =tis;uid=sa;pwd =;" />
</appSettings>
<!-- This section sets the authentication mode to forms
authentication
and routes all traffic to the specified page. It also
specifies a
timeout. The authorization section below denies all users not

authenticated. For testing purposes, custom errors was turned
off.
The section below allows pages to be trace enabled for
debugging
-->
<system.web>

<sessionState
mode="InProc"
cookieless="fal se"
timeout="20" />

<authenticati on mode="Forms">
<forms name="MyFormsAu thentication" loginUrl="login .aspx"
protection="All " timeout="720" />
</authentication>

<authorizatio n>
<deny users="?" />
</authorization>

<customErrors mode="Off" />

<trace enabled="true" requestLimit="0 " pageOutput="tru e" />

</system.web>

<system.web>

</system.web>
</configuration>

When i assign the user name in the log in page it works

session("userna me") = txtUsername.Tex t

But if I use a new session variable or the username(sessio n variable as
declared in the login page, in the menu page it gives me error saying
that Decralation is expected . Is there any files that i need to import
b4 using sessions??

Please help me out. My email:br******* *@gmail.com

It appears to me that you should post this question in a forum
dedicated to ASP .Net. This newsgroup is about SQL Server, and I
at least knows nothing about ASP .Net.

I know this issue has been brought up many times, but I have tried many of the solutions to no avail. I wanted to give my specific case to see if someone could be of any help. We are using the sessionstate inproc mode and users are randomly losing their session. I do not believe it is happening across all users at one time. It seems to happen to different users at different times, but I am only going off heresay. The aspnet worker...

I am running with Sql Server and am curious if I should use in-process, State Server, or SQL Server. By default, I assume I am using in-process (I could be wrong here, however). I am not actually defining it in my web.config. I was thinking about moving to Sql Server mode, but am not sure what I would gain or lose by changing. One thing I was curious about, was if this would make it easier to figure

I have been using the default session state (InProc) and have found that I have been loosing my information after a period of time (normally 20 minutes). Is there anyway to find out how much more time I have on a session? If I do a refresh, does reset the session clock? Do you have have to go to another page to reset the session timeout or will a postback also do it? This is important as we have a few pages that a user

We love the ASP.NET "Session" concept and make good use of it. But, getting close to deployment we find we lose sessions far too often, probably due to application restarts, etc. We hope to eliminate these restarts, but we're not sure that can be achieved. (We are exploring who/what might be touching web.config or assemblies or other files in our application, but have found nothing so far.) We have some serious rewriting to do if all...

The web.config in my asp.net application, running on Server2003, has this entry: <sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="40". In IIS the asp.net State Management timeout setting is 40 for my website. In IIS the virtual directory configuration setting is set to 40. The application still timesout at 20 minutes. What else can I do? --

Hello, This is a follow-up to my earlier post about having issues with our application pool recycling. We currently use Session State InProc, but if I were to choose to move the existing application to SQL instead, would the only change in the application be the SessionState setting within web.config? I know I'd also need to setup our MS SQL database to handle sessions (detailed in MS Article 317604), but outside of this, is there...

I've been on this for a while, and cannot figure it out. Can someone please help with this message? SessionState can only be used when EnableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the <configuration><system.web><httpModulessection in the application configuration. Here is my current...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
