sql server replication performance

J
Hi There,

I would be glad if someone helps me.

My company has around 25 big databases and they are being replicated to
our second server after some intervals.

We are using snapshot as well as transactional replications.

Is there any way to fine tune the sql server, so that replication will
be faster.

Is there any settings by which I can boost the performance of my
server.

Thanks in Advance.
J

We have a performance problem to replicate our environnement. Our java code is able to insert 100 000 rows in a table within 3 seconds using Batch Statement. For two oracle sites it takes 6 seconds the inserts. When we enable oracle's advanced replication the time falls to 44 seconds for the two replicated sites. So the transactions took 7 times more time. It is normal Oracle states that Adv replication takes around 6 times more resource...

I'm looking for a simple way of telling (inside a stored procedure) if I'm currently using MSDE or a full SQL server. Ideally, there is some pre-defined environment variable that won't cause me too much overhead. The reason I'm doing this is because my system "rolls over" databases when it reaches the 2Gb limit with MSDE, but obviously I want to avoid this overhead if the user installs onto a full SQL server instance. Thanks

Hello, everyone. I'm setting a db2 replication environment using UDB version 8.1.5 running on Windows 2000 servers. The source server is on a Windows server with the capture program running while the target server is on another Windows server running the apply program. This replication set up has a mix of bidirectional and unidirection data exchange. User copy is used for the unidirectional data. I'm having the following issue. 1. It...

Hello all, I am curious to know if anyone has done a trade study on DB2, SQL Server, and Oracle databases. Basically I am trying to identify which one to chose based on "Ease of implementation", Ease of maintenance", "Pricing" and "Ease of technical support". The criteria I am looking at can be obtained by interviewing people who have worked with these products. I appreciate any input I can get. Thanks, Shaun

I am a DB2 DBA that has been asked to become familiar enough with SQL Server in order to become actively involved in its installation, implementation, and to review database backup/recovery procedures. SQL Server will be used by a vendor packaged application. The problem is that we are awaiting word on whether it will be SQL Server 2000 or 2005 we will be working with. I have been told that there are considerable differences between the...

We have a 3 month old quad processor/dual core server running SQL Server 2005 and already it is getting close to hitting the CPU wall. An 8 way CPU box is prohibitively expensive and out of the question. I am looking desperately for a way to TRULY scale out SQL server...in the same way that IIS can be scaled out via App Center. The "in the box" solution for SQL Server 2005 scaling out is the DMV. Unfortunately this solution makes...

I'm getting ready to build my first ASP.NET/SQL Server website that will be hosted on some web host out there (long distance, different network). The work I've done in the past (pre-.NET) was all done on in-house servers. Since this website/web-app will be hosted elsewhere, I wanted to ask some questions to make sure that I'm doing things correctly. We have a SQL 2000 db hosted on a server here. I need to build a website (hosted...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
