Is there a way to set Permissions based on user roles by using some
configuration file for my application ?
I'm coming from a Java background, where that could very easily be
accomplished but although I've searched around MSDN I can't find a clear
answer to this ...
Thanks a lot guys,
Angel

Hey Guys,
Before we start with our sample app we need to view the security
configuration files on the machine. You will find them under
<drive>\WInNT\Microsoft.NET\FrameWork\<version>\Config
Enterprise Level Security configuration file is :- enterprise.config
Machine Level Security configuration file is :- security.config

I am looking at using a table with user names, passwords and user rights,
which I would administer. I have read a lot about the shortfalls of this
and the lack of security but the customer does not wish to use Access
security and what they are more focused on is a solution for when a user
performs a critical action the system can verify that it is actually that
user, e.g. Checks User Name and Password in a table in place of just
selecting...

Hey Guys,
Today we are going to look at Code Access Security.
Code access security is a feature of .NET that manages code depending on its
trust level. If the CLS trusts the code enough to allow it ro run then it
will execute, the code execution depends on the permission provided to the
assembly. If the code is not trusted wnough to run or it attempts to perform
an action which doe not have the required permissions then its execution...

All,
If anyone has been following my trials over the last week see(Setting up a
Web Application on IIS 5.1 and ASP.Net Security Problems).
I'm having a problem running a Asp.Net Web Application. I've finally
narrowed the problem down to a security issue: The ASPNET (aspnet_wp)
account cannot connect to a Network resource instead of using a local path
ie: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot my development site resides on a Network Share...

Hi,
I am trying to find the minimum security settings to allow a windows control
embedded in IE have full trust.
If I give the entire Intranet zone full trust, this works. However, this is
very broad and gives the entire zone high privleges.
I tried giving just the assembly full trust (using the full URL for the
DLL), but this doesn't seem to work.

I am working on a project to build a reporting web app from an exsiting
database that is controled by a local application. The application that
has control over the database creates a lock file to the database and
at that point I can no longer access the database with my web app. Is
there anyway around this? All I need is read only access to the
database to get some report information to display on the web page.
The error I get on the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
