SQL Server Client tools installation

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2000 client tools on an XP workstation.
MSDE already exists on the workstation. During the install I am never
prompted for a location to install to. I want to install to my D drive. The
install defaults to my C drive.

Any thoughts?

I don't run installs that very often, but I think that to adhere to the
Win2000 logo, installations must be in ProgramFilesDir , which is why you
get no choice.

But have a look at the keys under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Mi crosoft\Windows \CurrentVersion if you want
to outsmart Windows.

I know that when installing VS.Net, if you already have MSDN installed, you
don't get a choice. Could be the same thing for this, BOL or MSDE, or both
may have to be removed and reinstalled in the right place.

According to MS Knowledge Base Article 269824, " ... must be installed ... on any computer on which someone may make design changes in an Access project to a SQL Server 2000 database". This is the situation I'm facing. Can I download these Client Tools and install them for free, or are they only available on the SQL Server 2000 Installation CD? Thanks for any help!

I've posted this in the middle of an older thread but it seems to have gone unnoticed. I apologize for repeating myself. We are converting an existing Access97 split database to an Access front end with a SQL Server back end so that its users, who live all over the state, can all use it without mailing the back end back and forth throughout the year. I am trying to set up the installation package with the ODE tools so that the users...

Hello, I had SQL2000 server running fine on the windows 2003 box. I then installed SQL 2005 Express. They both worked together fine. I then uninstalled SQL 2005 Express and installed SQL 2005 Server. But when I open SQL Server Management Studio, I can only connect to the SQL 2000 engine. In the Object explorer, it says v8.0.2039 (which I think is SQL 2000 Server, because I can see the existing SQL 2000 databases). How can I get SQL...

Hi all, we have installed DB2 V9.5 Trial on a Fedora 6 Linux box (32bit). Since the box is included in a NIS we have manually created db2 users db2inst, dasusr and db2fenc on this box (not in the NIS). The installation process is carried out by using the root user (as root, not using sudo or something else). We selected the custom installation and de-selected the SA MP option but enabled the option to build the TOOLSDB (catalog db as I...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
