2 Sticks of RAM doens't work on my computer.

4 New Member
When I start up my computer and I have 2 sticks of RAM, it gives me 2 beeps, but when I take off one and it's just one in, it starts up just fine, no problems at all. If I were to leave both on it will start up and after it will either restart, or give me a bunch of squiggly lines. It's getting very frustrating. I am some what computer literate, but I can't work with the BIOS at all. I have a BIOSTAR TA790GXE 128M with a AMD Athlon (TM) II x3 425 processor. If anyone can help please let me know.

Hey Henry, usually we use the windows forums for such questions. Does this have anything to do with what you PMed me about? Please post full information about the situation. You stated that you did build your computers so first I would say to look in your motherboards manual and somewhere in there it should tell you what those beeps mean. It should be somewhere around the POST section or post error codes. You said you can boot with just 1 stick within the computer? Does it matter which stick it is? You may want to try a memory tester. You will want one that uses DOS or something similar so that you can boot right into it when you turn on your pc. A quick google search will point you to several memory testers.

Hey thanks for answering. Well yeah I can run the computer with just 1 stick of RAM any kind I have tried 6 diffrent ones, but when I apply the second one, it either loops with the blue screen, or it turns off. It's pretty annoying, I have a AMD Athlon II(tm) x3 425. Also I have gotten a few blue screens that say, Bad Pool Header and another one that is Bad Pool Caller. I also can't install VISTA on it, I was using the one that was already on my harddrive, which I think can also be a problem.

Oh and btw I just check the POST beep it says for Bootbloc Beep codes No media present. I doubt that's it though. Another one is Memory refresh time error. I which is the POST beep codes. or Reseat the memory, or replace with known good modules.

Alright what all has changed in the system? Did you just install new memory? Is this a fresh PC build? Are both sticks of memory the same (brand, size, speed, ect)? What happends when you try to install VISTA? Putting a harddrive with an operating system on it into a different computer (mobo, proc, ect) is usually a bad idea and can cause all types of issues. I'm not sure about the blue screen error, but if i get a little extra time at work I'll poke around a bit and see what it says.
