Security Holes in Apple's "Safari" for Windows

123 New Member
I've been running some test on Safari and research as well. I've found it has many security flaws. Am I the only one that sees that Apple's attempt to compete against IE can be risky for users and their "security"?

I am moving this to the software development forum as I think it will receive more response there.

Not sure whether the security issues are related to Safari or its interface to Windows. The security issues do not exist on a Mac. But the Windows version is a 'beta' so it shouldn't be judged entirely on that.

I get the impression it was released for Windows so developers would write programs that will work in iPhone which runs the Safari browser.

No, if you go to their web site, there is a beta version download there for normal desktop/notebook users to use. I've used it, found it is fast in respect to download time, but I watched my router logs and found my firewalls stopped an intruder when using it. Actually it happen a few times I used Safari. I do see what you mean by it being a beta version, but the other beta browsers I've used never had that kind of security flaw that I've seen in Safari.

*shrugs* Show me a browser that didn't have a 0-day security flaw, and I won't believe you.

Actually most of the issues do exist on the same browser for Mac. Of the 6 critical security flaws discovered on the day Safari was released for windows only one is windows specific. True this is beta and Apple's OS and related software has a very good track record for security but in a market that is already super saturated with powerful, well known, and open sourced internet browsers why would you switch.

True, I was just interested in seeing what others results or experience with safari was.

Honestly, I like firefox since I'm able to set it up to the way I like it. IE I found just can be annoying with certain web sites.

Thanks for the info.
