(querying here and c.d.t didn't turn up anything, so......)
let's say you've got an existing table in an existing db. said
table has a unique index of 12 columns, 3 "data" columns, and
millions of rows. this all goes over the wire to a browser client,
since no one knows what to decompose the table into (a priori or
analytically).
the examples one sees are stone obvious: teachers and classrooms and
the like. here, the data is crufty...

Hello,
We have a vb.net application we are using for our field inspectors. We
want to integrate a camera capturing tool into the application. Does anyone
have any suggestions? The idea is that the camera is attached to the tablet
(running windows 2k) on the tablet they can view and take pictures and those
files will be stored on the hard drive of the tablet. We have different
types of cameras but can work on switching to a specifc brand...

I posted under a different subject earlier, no responses. I have
changed the question somewhat.
Is there a way to have the report come up in landscape, not just print
in landscape? I know how to get it to print in landscape no problem.
I want the report to display to the user in landscape. I can click on
the rpt file and go in there and set the printer options to landscape,
but all this does is print it out in landscape.

Some Sr. colleges and I have had an on going discussion relative to when and
if
C# will ever support 'true' multiple inheritance.
Relevant to this, I wanted to query the C# community (the 'target' programming
community herein) to get some community input and verify (or not) the
following
two statements.
Few programmers (3 to7%) UNDERSTAND 'Strategic Functional Migration

I've been approached by a local business that has been advised that
they need to start capturing and archiving their instant messaging in
order to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley. The company is largely PC, but
has a significant number of Macs running OS X, too.
Googling around quickly turns up IM Grabber for the PC, which would
seem to be just what they need. But there is no equivalent to be
found for OS X. So if anyone knows of any such...

Hi all,
I haven't experienced functional programming very much, but now I'm
trying to learn Haskell and I've learned that: 1) in functional
programming LISTS are fundmental; 2) any "cycle" in FP become
recursion.
I also know that Python got some useful tool such as map, filter,
reduce... so I told: "let's try some FP-style programming with
Python!". I took a little example of Haskell:
listprimes :: Integer -

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
