Hello web folks... I've been desigining web pages for 13 years using my
trusty text editor (UltraEdit) and in depth knowledge of HTML. I'm
truly a text editor ninja at this point. I am frequently using regular
expressions to search and replace in multiple files. I also use many
different copy buffers and know all the keyboard shortcuts like the
back of my hand. The point is... it's comfortable.
Unfortunately, it's become just too...

Hi All,
I tested "concurrent testing" in MySQL. It works fine. But I couldn't do in PostgreSQL 7.3.4 on HPUX IPF. I got deadlock problem. I used the PHP script to update table( one script increment the column & another one decrement the column). Is the postgres support the concurrent access to update database?
I got the following errors:
test=# ERROR: deadlock detected
ERROR: deadlock detected
ERROR: deadlock detected

Hello All,
I'm always looking for ways to improve my code. Most of the time (whenever
I'm working on a project) I write a bunch of functions. Then after the
project is finished, I put all the similar functions into their own
module/class/page for neatness:
-- like a stringsManipulate class which has all string manipulation methods
to the project...separated from the whole project into its own library for
neatness.
-- like a...

Hi,
I have built a web application that will be a very high profile application.
We had tested it, demonstrated it and shown that it all works.
On a dress rehearsal run through, it failed spectacularly. I was so
embarrassed and felt like killing the person that made it fail. However,
when it goes live, IT MUST NOT FAIL.
The system has a backoffice system that takes an excel spreadsheet from the

i lead a small development team (based on some of my posts that might cause
some people to choke themselves, but have no fear, i am NOT the lead
developer, the people on my team are great - i'm just the manager) for my
company. although we attempt to use good practices for development, we have
no real experience in documentation of a project _before_ it's coded.
Are there any great books out there on how to document a project before we...

I'm trying to get my head around a conversation I had with a developer the
other day. We were talking about Codesmith vs. Hand coding. He's position is
Codesmith is for junior to mid level developer who perfer "wizards" to write
code for them. That these types of code generators produce substandard
developers who don't have real skills. I don't have a position one way or
the other until I have a bit more information, but if I was to take...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
