Changed thread title to better describe the problem (did you know that threads whose titles do not follow the Posting Guidelines actually get FEWER responses?).

I ran into the same problem today. Solution is:

Open Service Management Console (Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Services), right click on "Tor Win32 Service" and select "Stop". That's it, you can now start Tor using Vidalia and it won't ask for control password any more.

Seems like a bug with Vidalia control panels.

P.S. A good title does help searching, although the help may come several months too late in some cases... Well that's life I guess:) Good luck.

HELLO THERE
I ran into the sample problem with Tor and tryed to solve as told by JONET but that way does not work anymore...

I kept seeking in the setup menu from Tor and switched out the option in the advance settings : Run tor in the background as a windows service ..
And it stopped for me asking for a password.. And Tor is working fine !

Hope this helps ??
greetings
Roger

What's better about Ruby than Python? I'm sure there's something. What is it? This is not a troll. I'm language shopping and I want people's answers. I don't know beans about Ruby or have any preconceived ideas about it. I have noticed, however, that every programmer I talk to who's aware of Python is also talking about Ruby. So it...

Is PostgreSQL reliable enough to be used for high-end commercial application? Thanks

Due to the the large numbers of MS trained programmers unemployed we are looking at using MS Development environments. VB programmers are currently 10 a penny. However I find C a bit more logical as I come from a Clipper background. Current;y .NET seems to be the latest fashion, so what is it about and should we use it please?

Am I the only one who finds that I'm writing more documentation than code? I recently needed to write a function to generate a rank table from a list. That is, a list of ranks, where the rank of an item is the position it would be in if the list were sorted: alist = list('defabc') ranks = To do that, I needed to generate an index...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
