Ok, here we go.
I added the possibility for tests using the unittest.py framework
to be skipped. Basically, I added two methods to TestCase:
TestCase.skip(msg): skips unconditionally
TestCase.skipIf(expr, msg): skips if expr is true
These can be called either in setUp() or in the test methods. I also
added reporting of skipped tests to...

We have a number of TestCase classes that have multiple test methods.
We are interested in removing any of the individual test methods on the
fly (dynamically, at runtime, whatever).
We currently have an "isSupported" method in the TestCase classes that
return a bool by which the greater test harness decides whether to run
the enclosed test...

I use Intel C++ Compiler 8.1 for my Xeon Pentium III 550MHz machine. I
have executed six different tests for performance. GV stands for global
variable. GF stands for global function. SV stands for struct variable or
class variable. SF stands for struct member function or class member
function. JMP stands for switch (xx). CALL stands...

Hallo,
I have promised Jay B yesterday to do some tests.
The subject was a string evaluation that Jon had send in. Jay B was in doubt
what was better because there was a discussion in the C# newsgroup on 25
September. The regular expressions where in that newsgroup too involved.
I told yesterday night, to Jay that I would test all 4...

Howdy all,
Summary: I'm looking for idioms in unit tests for factoring out
repetitive iteration over test data. I explain my current practice,
and why it's unsatisfactory.
When following test-driven development, writing tests and then coding
to satisfy them, I'll start with some of the simple tests for a class.

I have this program and I need to work on the test portion, which tests
if a Val is in the list. It returns false no matter what could you look
at the part and see what might need to be done to fix it. It reads in
the file and sorts out the files into the four different lists.

In a previous post I have been asking about a way to test Alpha
Transparency.
Bob and Michael have kindly provided some ideas.
Here I would like to share the function I have prepared, for the
purpose to improve it.
Frankly, I am not clear about the exact meaning of some pixel format
(max, gdi, etc.) and I hope I have put them under the...

Hi all,
I have a consistent test case where os.popen3() hangs in Windows. The
system hangs when retrieving the lines from the child process stdout.
I know there were several reports related to os.popen3() hanging under
Windows in this group before.
I stumbled on a case where a piece of code works in some occasions and
hangs consistently...

Hi,
I previously asked for suggestions on teaching testing in C++. Based
on some of the replies I received I decided that best way to proceed
would be to teach the students how they might write their own unit
test framework, and then in a lab session see if I can get them to
write their own. To give them an example I've created the...

Does anyone else feel that unittesting is too much work? Not in general,
just the official unittest module for small to medium sized projects?
It seems easier to write some quick methods that are used when needed
rather than building a program with integrated unittesting. I see the
value of it (the official unittest that is)... especially...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
