I'm currently working on a Python program, and was wondering if it's
possible to license the program, some associated tools, and a few other
libraries I've written under the Python license.
I had a look at the new PSF Python license on the list of OSI-approved
licenses, but it makes numerous direct mentions of Python and the PSF.
Is there any acceptable way to simply say that a particular source file
is under the PSF license (like you...

In order to protect software from being copied without licence, I would like
to use something like a key, which fits only to the current system. The
serial number of the CPU or the current operating system would be
appropriate. However, I do not know how to retrieve the information.
Could you help?

I'm planning to develop a .NET application using C#, in order to sell it as
a shareware and/or as a full package, so I'll need a good way to protect it
against piracy. I know some ways to protect it (activation, serial keys,
etc.), but my concern is: how can any copy protection mechanism work when
you can always disassemble it and read the source code? Even if I use a
native C++ DLL for my copy protection, the point where it's called from...

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know where I can get a license key generator that I can
integrate into my VB.NET program, which uses the CPU ID, etc? I have seen
several "pay" programs, but I do remember seeing one that told you how to do
it yourself... Can't remember where though.
Thanks!

We are developing a windows application that people can purchase and

I am in the process of developing a small program that I will be trying
to sell to different institutions. The program is written in VB and
uses an Access database.
Now how do I go about selling people a license for my software? And
also how do I protect my software from just being ripped off, i.e.
Encrypt it?
Thanks

Not sure if I can ask the question in this forum - please let me know if it
is better elsewhere. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced good copy
protection program that will protect software on either a machine only or
network range basis?? I have just found Shareguard that looks reasonably
priced. My applications are for vertical market and are not likely to be
cracked, BUT users are likely to pass working versions around if not...

I am trying to write a protection procedure, which will allow me to create a licence key for our users. This licence key will ensure that the software can only run on the registered system, and will allow the user to access only specific areas of my program which is relevant to them.
I am thinking of using an RSA style approach to this where I want to be the only person who can create the registration keys. But I want to allow the program to...

I have been working on a small program that checks a users routers IP address and sends an email when the returned address is different after the previous scan. I would like to make the program available for free to users and more then likely I would like it to be open source so others can modify it for their needs. I looked into SourceForge which I think is where I will go with it but it asks me to identify the programs licensing information. I...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
