I am developing an online application and the last thing I need to get
a handle on is security.
This app is very heavy with forms. Business critical data will be
entered via forms and inserted in to a database (mysql).
I've google "php security" and from what I've read, I should:
1) Filter all form data by stripping all non-alpha/numeric characters

Hi There,
I have always wondered what sort of security is the best for a windows
application. I am designing an application and I wish to understand whats
best to implement.
Is it role based security? Shall I handle security in SQL tables. What is
the best way of providing access to various parts of the applciation to the
users. How shall I make the forms customisable for users?

Background:
When I create a ASP.NET control (User or custom), it often requires security to be set for certain functionality with the control. For example, a news release user control that is comprised of a DataGrid may have separate permissions for adding, deleting and updating a news item.
Problem
Up until now, I have been implementing security directly inside the control. I will test directly against the security model to see if...

I am trying to read Account Management category events of Security Logs using EventLog class, but I can not read the event message. Error message:
"The description for Event ID '565' in Source 'Security' cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message, or you may not have permission to access them."
Any suggestion?
Also is it possible to read event log...

Hello,
I am creating a webservice that collects user information and stores it in a database. Since the user information contains sensitive data like SSN I am planning to use WS-Security (WSE 2.0) in my WebService to digitally sign and encrypt the data.
Here are the steps I followed to digitally sign the message:
1) I created a X.509 certificate using Certification Services in Windows Server 2003.
2) I installed the certificate...

Hi,
I have created an access db that I would like to secure.
The database will exist on a shared drive and be used at a number of
different locations hence the reason to secure the database.
The users of the database also use other databases therefore I want to
secure this database without using the wizard so it does not effect
their other databases.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
