A user runs a .NET application that authenticates them against active
directory (they're coming in over VPN so they don't log on to the network
normally). Once they log in, I want to take their user id, & run a batch
file on their PC with that user id actually inside the batch file.

I have a web service that needs to create a batch file and call it (since
there are no APIs for the functionality I am looking for). I am using the
Process and ProcessStartInfo objects. When I try to call the batch file, it
just returns with a return code of 1. When I call cmd.exe, and pass the
batch file as a parameter it hangs. After much frustration and aggrevation,

I have created a very simple batch file and trying to retrieve the
standard output but everytime I run the code it returns ExitCode as 1.
I have created a batch file as simple as ping localhost or echo hello
world and neither have worked. Note: This is from ASP.Net code. Also,
the batch file runs just fine from command line.
I am running another Exe process with arguments from the same method
and that runs just fine too.

Hi all,
Here's some work in progress that should allow you to run a batch file as a
custom action in a VS deployment project. Yup I know you can use js or wsh,
but the target may not have either.. Essentially it's just a wrapper for the
Process class and a command interpreter.

Currently (manually), I 1) open a Windows SDK Command Prompt and 2) navigate
to a particular folder. Then I 3) type a command and press enter. The
command is irrelevant (WCF-related) but here it is FYI:
svcutil http://localhost/COWFeedyardService/Services/Pen.svc /out:Pen.vb
/config:App.config /language:VB
All works fine, but I need to do this over a hundred times changing "Pen" to
the names of the other classes and re-executing.
