Use string method replace().
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. >>> s = ".abcdef"
  2. >>> s
  3. '.abcdef'
  4. >>> s.replace(".", "?")
  5. '?abcdef'
  6. >>>

I am trying to modify the Mailman Python code to stop mapping MIME-types and use the extension of the attachment instead. I am pretty much clueless as to what I need to do here, but I think I have narrowed it down to the Scrubber.py file.. If this seems like a quick step me through, I would be very appreciative, could get you something on your Amazon wish-list (that is me on my knees begging).. From just my basic understanding, it...

I am starting a new thread so we can avoid some of the non-productive argument following my earlier post "What is good about Prothon". At Mr. Hahn's request, I will avoid using the name "Prothon" in the subject of any post to this newsgroup. Please ignore the old thread. I've also updated my webpage http://ece.arizona.edu/~edatools/Python Anyone with some good ideas for "Python 3" is welcome to contribute. I hope GvR won't sue me for...

Hi, In a project where I have embedded Python in a C++ application, I have the need to replace what Python considers to be stdin, stdout and/or stderr. In sysmodule.c in the Python sources, I find the following lines of code: sysin = PyFile_FromFile(stdin, "<stdin>", "r", NULL);

I'd like to use Python in my classes, but some students do not have a pc. They do have access to Internet-connected systems, though. Is there a site someplace on the Internet (preferably a web server) where someone can submit a Python program to be run? Telnet may be possible to use, but a browser would be ideal. John

Hi, My application has python embedded into it. I noticed that when I run any python code the output is buffered and doesn't get flushed until my application exits. To fix this I simply flush sys.stdout and sys.stderr every once in while by using the following code: //Get handle to python stdout file and flush it PyObject *pyStdout = PySys_GetObject("stdout"); if(pyStdout && PyFile_Check(pyStdout)) {

This question applies specifically to RHEL 3.0 (actually Whitebox), but also generally to Redhat and probably pretty much every distribution that uses python for distribution-related tasks (configuration managers, rpm package management, yum, etc). So I want to upgrade to python 2.4 on Whitebox 3.0. Ideally I would like python to live in /usr/bin and replace the python 2.2 that ships with RHEL entirely. This gets pretty infeasable when...

Hello, I'm having some problems understanding Regexps in Python. I want to replace "<google>PHRASE</google>" with "<a href=http://www.google.com/search?q=PHRASE>PHRASE</a>" in a block of text. How can I achieve this in Python? Sorry for the naive question but the documentation is really bad :-( Regards, GVK

I'm kind of disappointed with the re regular expressions module. In particular, the lack of support for recursion ( (?R) or (?n) ) is a major drawback to me. There are so many great things that can be accomplished with regular expressions this way, such as validating a mathematical expression or parsing a language with nested parens, quoting or expressions. Another feature I'm missing is once-only subpatterns and possessive quantifiers...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
