I cannot get accented charecters in my HTML output...
I have tried to leave the accented characters in and to use iso-8859-1,
but there it doesn't work either.
I have tried to use à entity, but & is a reserved character.
I have tried to use à or ß but the entity is not
recognised, and I get as an output in the browser "à" or "ß"...
Maybe there is sometheing missing in the header...

Hi, I am using Python to scrape web pages and I do not have problem
unless I run into a site that is utf-8. It seems & is changed to &
when the site is utf-8.
If I try to replace it with .replace('&','&') it for some reason
does not replace it.
For example: http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/default.aspx

In my previous post, I asked about a routine which prepares a string for
an XPath query by taking care of escape characters.
Unable to find a list, I'm now wondering assumign I enclose the
attribute value in quotes in my XPath query, what other escape
characters need to be handled aside from a quotation mark? As I
understand it, an apostrophe wouldn't be a problem since I'm enclosing
the string in quotes.

I'm using XMLTextReader to parse the contents of XML. I have issues when
the xml content itself has some special characters like & ,> etc.

I am using the function listed below to handle characters events in
SAX. It does not handle multiple sequential calls to this function
correctly. For example, I am getting
"2 4 816 32 64" as a value for an element when processing <vec2 4 8
16 32 64 </vec>
because I am getting 2 calls to process the text in this element, one
for "2 4 8" and the other for "16 32 64". I have tried appending a
blank to the result after each call to this...

I was wondering if there are a few good pages and/or examples on how to
process form data correctly for putting it in a MySQL DB.
Since I'm not used to using PHP a lot, I already found out that
addslashes() can be used escape some characters, but I'm having some
more problems with for instance ä, å and µ (since the text is scientifical)

I'm having problems with Tab characters in an XML file.
I want to store a Tab character as part of an element value e.g.
<Separator>TAB</Separator>
I'm using XmlWriter to write my file and XmlReader to read it.
At first my tab character was stored in the element, but was ignored
