Somebody with a very regulatory mind in this newsgroup has written
that it's better not to use a leading underscore for class member
names, because names with a leading underscore are used internally by
compilers (well, not so internally, since they appear in header
files).
I personally use the leading underscore (followed by a lower case
letter), which I consider to be much more readable than the trailing
underscore.
My reasoning is...

I have recently received data for a database where there are over 1000
people's names, all in capital letters (surnames and first names). I really
need to be able to convert them all to lower case. I figure that I need a
query that will convert the first letter of a name to a capital letter.
Another to convert any letter following a space to a capital. Another to
convert any letter following an apostrophe (') to a capital and yet another...

Hi
I am looking at some C# code, and can see in some of the classes there are
instance variables whose names start with an underscore, for example:
private string _projectId;
Is there a reason for using underscores like this in C#?
Thanks,

Hi all,
Can you let me know if there is a standard naming convention for
webservice methods ? I have seen some with a lower case first letter
and some with an upper case first letter. Also what is the standard
naming convention for the properties of classes passed into the
methods?
We have to implement web services in .NET and Java and they need to use
exactly the same naming convention for the exposed methods.

I have just started using python and am stuck on a particular project. I have been stuck staring at my computer not knowing what to do. I will post details below.
What I am trying to do is use a CSV file named country.csv in which information about countries is recorded. The first line in the file is the header line and describes the content of each column. The first value in a line is the name of the country, the second is an abbreviation...

I was trying to change the behaviour of print (tee all output to a
temp file) by inheriting from file and overwriting sys.stdout, but it
looks like print uses C-level stuff to do its writes which bypasses
the python object/inhertiance system. It looks like I need to use
composition instead of inheritance, but thought this was strange
enough to note.
$python -V

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
