I'm working on a presentation program that needs to produce 'full
screen' images.
The effect will be something like a powerpoint presentation.
In actual fact it's a song database with lyrics - and each 'screen'
will need a widget for next verse, previous verse, chorus etc..... so
what I'd really like is a Tk text widget that is full screen sized.
(For the moment I'll just use a large window - most of the work will
be in building the...

hello,
i am writing an app which is running on a dual screen setup on windows
and OS X. is anyone doing this using Tkinter? are there problems with
it?
i know Tk() takes a "screenname" argument which specifies the screen.
but i am not sure about how well Tkinter copes with having two Tk
objects and i could not find any documentation as to what the screens
are called.

Hi all, first post.
I'm new to python and tkinter. I'm trying to write a program that
opens the root window with a button that then opens a toplevel window
that then has it's own widgets. I can get the new toplevel window to
open but none of the widgets appear. The console gives me:
AttributeError: 'NewWindow' object has no attribute 'tk'
Here's my code:

I have tried to search everywhere for solutions to this.
My problem is that on some programs, certain windows are blank white. An example: I installed Adobe Acrobat 8, also Adobe Reader 8. On both, the screen where it asks me to accept or decline the user agreement is blank, so I have no way of accepting. All I can do is click the X (close) button, which then tells me that I have declined the agreement and the program will close.
Another...

As many might know, windows allows to copy an image into the clipboard
by pressing the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard. Is it possible
to paste such an image from the clipboard into a "Text" widget in
Tkinter? Here is my first attempt with just trying to print out the
image data:
-----------------
def pasteImg(tgt):

Hi,
I'm in the process of writing some code and noticed a strange problem
while doing so. I'm working with PythonWin 210 built for Python 2.5. I
noticed the problem for the last py file processed by this script,
where the concerned tmp file is only actually written to when
PythonWin is closed. In other words, after I run this script, one of
the generated tmp files has a size of 0kB. I then close PythonWin and
it is then written to.

from Tkinter import *
win = Tk()
If I type those two lines at the command prompt (in WindowsXP) I get a
new window on my screen. Yet if I copy those lines in a file called
test.py and then run "python test.py" at the command prompt I am
returned to the command prompt and nothing shows up on the screen. Is
this normal behavior or is it a bug?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
