Hi all, we are now planning to upgrade our application from a
non-unicode version to a unicode version. The application's backend is
a SQL Server 2000 SP3.
The concern is, existing business data are stored using collation
"Chinese_PRC_CI_AS", i.e. Simplified Chinese. So I thought we need to
extract these data out to the new SQL Server which is using Unicode (I
assume it means converting them to nchar, nvarchar type of fields for I...

I'm using a Unicode sql script imported using OSQL. One of the values
we are attempting to insert is a Registry Multi-String value by passing
a string to a stored procedure. These Multi-String values appear to be
delimited by a Hex 06 (^F) character. When I import this character,
embedded in a string preceeded by an N, i.e
N'somethingsomething2something3'
I end up with TWO of this character in the db. I get :

I store unicode-data in postgresql. The data is retrieved via webinterfaces,
processed with perl and then stored in postgresql (and viceversa).
All is going nice with one problem. If performing a "select * order by
field"-query the result is not what I expected.
German umlauts (ie: Ö) are stored as doublechars ("Ö" is "Ö") and only the
first char seems to be taken into account when sorting.

Hey all,
First off I am new to postgres and multi-lingual development so pardon me if
the answer is overly obvious.
We our database is setup for UNICODE. We have a mixture of clients
accessing the database through JDBC and C (libpq). My question involves the
C interface to Postgres libpq.
Once a query has been made (with client_connection set to unicode) I need to

Hi,
Is there anyone to have idea how to make the MFC CDialog box display
Unicode (like Chinese characters) in .NET 2005? We have some dilog
boxes created from CDialog class in VC++ 6.0 and try to integrate them
into our new project developed in .NET 2005 to display Unicode.
Any idea and hint will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone,
Wide character and multi-byte character are two popular encoding schemes on
Windows. And wide character is using unicode encoding scheme. But each time I
feel confused when talking with another team -- codepage -- at the same time.
I am more confused when I saw sometimes we need codepage parameter for wide
character conversion, and sometimes we do not need for conversion. Here are
two examples,

Hello,
This compiles OK using Multi-Byte character set,
but when I switch to Unicode I get an error.
char reply = _T("olleh");
I know this will fix the error with the Unicode compile,
wchar_t reply = _T("olleh");
but this causes many other conversion problems in the program.
Is there some other conversion macro that I could use instead of _T(),

Can you put UTF-8 characters in a dbhash in python 2.5 ?
It fails when I try:
#!/bin/env python
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
import dbhash
db = dbhash.open('dbfile.db', 'w')
db = u'☺'

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
