Is anyone working on any software at present, using django or python
in general, which serves various academic/course functions, or else
that of student-instructor arbitration? A popular example which my
university uses is the "Blackboard Academic Suite" (wpedia:Blackbo ard
Inc.), which offers a wide range of course functionality (prof
announcements, forums, content management, grades, file sharing, etc.)
A preliminary search on Google didn't turn up much. I'm interested in
developing this sort of application if there aren't any at large, or
perhaps even if there are. I'm equally interested in looking into
existing options.

No, money is not one of my objectives. Neither is paying for software,
however, which is why I wondered if anyone was currently developing
any relevant, open-source applications. I had not heard the name
Moodle, thank you.

Please let me state off the cuff that I'm not after a big "Python Vs
Ruby" war or anything here! I'm trying to make the switch to Python for
my web development work as I've been using it for quite some time for
other programming work (albeit mainly hobby and personal interest
projects) as I'm getting to the stage where the need for a real MVC
capable language framework is a must simply to save some time and PHP
just isn't cutting it...

I'd like to use django's svn trunk instead of the
"Django-0.95-py2.4.egg" provided in site-packages.
The problem is that the "django egg" gets preference over the "django
svn trunk" module I manually added to PYTHONPATH...

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
