I've been looking all over in the docs, but I can't figure out how
you're *supposed* to parse formatted strings into numbers (and other
data types, for that matter) in Python.
In C#, you can say
int.Parse(myString)
and it will turn a string like "-12,345" into a proper int. It works
for all sorts of data types with all sorts of formats, and you can

I have an XML like the one below.
I am using SAX parsing and I need to get the information between the
tags of the Email element. First i try to access the content and print
it out and it gives me weird results.
XML:

v4.0.1 U (http://www.xmlspy.com)-->

Hi All,
I have written a component(ATL COM) that wraps Xerces C++ parser.
I am firing necessary events for each of the notifications that I have
handled for the Content and Error handler. The events can then I am
able to parse XML input in the form of files.
I also have provided support for parsing of XML content in the form of
string data. I am able to do so by creating a MemBufInputSource object
using the XML content provided to the...

Hi,
This is a newbie's question. I want to preload 4 images and only when
all 4 images has been loaded into browser's cache, I want to start a
slideshow() function. If images are not completed loaded into cache,
the slideshow doesn't look very nice.
I am not sure how/when to call the slideshow() function to make sure it
starts after the preload has been completed.

I keep coming across people, online and in real life, who believe that
to code single tags like <br> and <img> with trailing slashes, <br />
and <img /> is considered "best practice" and when challenged, they
say that "everyone's going to be using XML/XHTML soon" and say that
they're "getting ready" by coding this way.
Coding this way causes validation errors in HTML 4 Transitional and
HTML 4 Strict, so it can't be "best practice".

Hi everybody!
I have a little problem working with libxml SAX API.
The problem is that I don't know how to stop parsing when I have
processed the data I need. I don't want to parse all file, I only need
read until I reach certain part of the xml and then stop parsing.
Does anybody know how to stop?
Another question is, Is necessary free any memory when I am using SAX
API?
I only call to "xmlSAXUserParseFile" and then callbacks "call...

Hello,
First of all, this is a .NET 1.1 component I'm creating.
SUMMARY
-----------------------
This component that I'm creating is, for all intents and purposes, a
document parser (I'm actually deserializing a SOAP document into an
object and parsing out the fields, but that's fairly immaterial to this

Hi,
I am having problems with a function that I have been using in my program to
read sentences from a 'command file' and parse them into commands. the
surprising thing is that the program works fine on some computers and not so
fine on others. I tried debugging and cannot make any sense of it. I
narrowed it down to the seekg function and made this simple program which
(from what I understand) does not seem to be working as expected in all...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
