Hi,
I'm having problems storing large amounts of objects in a ZODB.
After committing changes to the database, elements are not cleared from
memory. Since the number of objects I'd like to store in the ZODB is too
large to fit in RAM, my program gets killed with signal 11 or signal 9...
Below a minimal working (or actually: it doesn't work because of memory

Hi,
I need to design data interfaces for accessing files of very large
sizes efficiently. The data will be accessed in chunks of fixed size
... My data interface should be able to do a
random seek in the file, as well as sequential access block by
block....
One aspect of the usage of this interface is that there is quite good
chance of accessing same blocks again and again by the application..

Dann Corbit has implemented function
int ilog2 (unsigned long)
at http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=lkPa4.2165%24I41.1498%40client
Is exist a similar C++-function for very large numbers, e.g., function with signature
vector<unsigned long> ilog2 (const vector<unsigned long>&)?

I am working on a project that will have about 500,000 records in an XML
document. This document will need to be queried with XPath, and records
will need to be updated. I was thinking about splitting up the XML into
several XML documents (perhaps 50,000 per document) to be more efficient but
this will make things a lot more complex because the searching needs to go
accross all 500,000 records. Can anyone point me to some best practices...

Hi all,
I have heard and read this many times: "Partitions should only be used for
'very large' tables".
What actually determines whether a table is 'very large' or not?
I have tables containing 0.5 million rows, 8 million rows, 14 & 29 million
rows as well.
How do I categorize them?
Any comments will be helpful.

Hey guys,
I have written a C++ program that passes data from a file to an FPGA board and back again using software and DMA buffers.
In my program I need to compare the size of a given file against a software buffer of size 3MB. This is needed so as to see which function to use to read from the file. As the files used range from very large (>30GB) to very small (<3MB), I have enabled large file support and I obtain the file size by using the...

This is about a technique to find the mod of a very large integer with a normal small integer.
I recently encountered this problem when I needed to compute the modulus of a very large number with a normal integer. I needed this in a C++ program running on a 32-bit UNIX platform. The problem was that the number was 28 digits long and no native datatype in c++ could store a number of that size.
(Eg: 1088263455689473669888943602 % 380)

If you don't have a problem with taking a small performance hit,
then I'd suggest to have a look at mxBeeBase, which is an on-disk
dictionary implementation:

Of course, you could also use a database table for this. Together
with a proper index that should work as well (but it's likely slower

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
