Could anyone explain to me why this does not work as intended?

False
>>> old.__eq__ = lambda x: True

It has appeared that ancient sources give a method for Numeric Date
Validation that involves numerous tests to determine month length;
versions are often posted by incomers here. That sort of code seems
unnecessarily long.
For some while, the following approach has been given here :-
function ValidDate(y, m, d) { // m = 0..11 ; y m d integers, y!=0

I am trying to write some classes representing the quaternion number.
I wrote a base class, which implements only the numerical interface,
and a few subclasses, which provide methods for their specific domain.
Since the operator methods will be the same for all these classes,
the base class operator methods don't explicitly return an instance
of this base class, but rather an instance of the class that called
them (ie 'return...

Now that implementations are becoming available, I've started to
learn more about C99.
Now I was reading about the isgreater/isgreaterequal/isless/...
macro's and I'm wondering about why they are here? What's the
difference with the normal relational operators?

Hello,
Guido has decided, in python-dev, that in Py3K the id-based order
comparisons will be dropped. This means that, for example, "{} < "
will raise a TypeError instead of the current behaviour, which is
returning a value which is, really, id({}) < id().
He also said that default equality comparison will continue to be
identity-based. This means that x == y will never raise an exception,
as is the situation is now. Here's his reason:

Hi,
I am trying to build a large array using concatenate function in
python.
So as I loop over the number of arrays, of which there are 12 (4 down
and 3 across), I create 3 long arrays by concatenating them at the
bottom and then concatenating them side by side:
for ind in range(num_arrays):
if ind == 0:
bias_down1 = array(bias)

I'm writing a class that implements rich comparisons, and I find myself
writing a lot of very similar code. If the calculation is short and
simple, I do something like this:
class Parrot:
def __eq__(self, other):
return self.plumage() == other.plumage()
def __ne__(self, other):
return self.plumage() != other.plumage()

Greetings, List!
I'm working on a numeric data type for measured values that will keep
track of and limit results to the number of significant digits
originally defined for the values in question.
I am doing this primarily because I enjoy playing with numbers, and also
to get some experience with unit testing.
At this point I have the __init__ portion finished, and am starting on

If your objects obey the trichotomy law (an object MUST BE less than,
greater than, or equal to another one, and there is no other possibility)
then __cmp__ is enough, and easier to define than all the rich comparison
operations.
In other cases, __cmp__ is not suitable: by example, complex numbers can't
define "greater than" ; you can only use "equal" or...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
