image scaling in cairo, python

[also posted to: ca***@cairograp hics.org]

hi all,

i've heard cairo has become the image scling library for firefox3. is
that true? wonderful, i want to do that in python. there's a python
interface for cairo, right? i've used it before to do simple vector
stuff. seems to work. however, i haven't been able to find relevant
pointers via google.

so do you have any pointers on how to resize a raster image with
python using cairo? i've been jumping through hoops for a while now,
and i believe it should be easier.

cheers and ~flow

I need to do some simple image editing (pretty much just scaling) in a GPLed program. Unfortunatly, both of the Python libraries for image editing that I found (gdmodule and PIL) are under the GPL-incompatible original BSD license. Is there another library under a friendlier library?

Do you know if it is possible to have an image to be scalled to a maximum width/height, but with keeping its aspect ratio. The two ideas I had were: - <img src="toto.jpg" style="max-width: 200px; max-height: 200px;"/> but it doesn't keep the ratio - <div style="width: 200px; height: 200px;"><img src="toto.jpg/></div> but the image flow outside the div

I am taking a 256 color bitmap from a file and scaling it up X 16 to a 32bppPARGB bitmap in memory. I copy that image to the screen. After scaling, the edges of all the lines and colors are blurred. I want the edges all crisp, including inherent pixelation (jaggies). Setting smoothing to none, or adjusting the composting mode on the Graphics object still

As pycairo is one of the less pythonish things I ever saw, it went into my mind to create some sort of objective wrapper over its python api making graphic manipulation much more coherent to the python way. As of the moment, I can: - create (and reorder) multiple layers (this is not present in the original cairo, but it is an easy addiction) - draw, move and delete Rectangles, Lines and (simple) Texts This is particularly useful when...

I would like to add text to an image. I have tried to use DrawString and it works on some images but on others it is very very small. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the size of the image but I have had varying results on multiple images. Is there anyway to make the text a fixed size on the image. Similar to putting a date on a photograph.

Hello all, I need your help. Internet Explorer 6+ has a registry setting (UseHR) that will automatically scale images for displays with high resolution (DPI). I am building a web based monitoring application that has some very detailed graphs and charts. I DO NOT want these images scaled under any circumstances. In fact, my graphs look better on high DPI screens when the are not scaled.

Thanks for your advice Gerdus, but I have tried your suggestion with no success. It has at least been beneficial to discover a tool which I did not know about in 'Dependency Walker'; all dependencies appear okay. HOWEVER (!!!) I HAVE JUST HAD SUCCESS IN LOADING THE DLL !!! In searching through my 'C:WINDOWS\system32' directory I discovered a subdirectory named 'rsvg' containing a number of .dll's associated with that library, including...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
