Re: Problem building python in virtual machine running centos

Thanks for your answers. I did solve my problem.
I upgraded my glibc libraries and it seems to solve the problem.
I was able to build python-2.4.5 using gcc 4.1.2 (glibc-2.5-18.el5_1.1)

Hi,

I am trying to build python-2.4.5 on Centos 5.1, which is a virtual
machine running with xen.
I am not able to build python. The compilation crash with the following:
gcc -pthread -c -DNDEBUG -g -O3 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -I.
-I./Include -DPy_BUILD_CORE -o Objects/unicodeobject.o
Objects/unicodeobject.c
In file included from ./Include/Python.h:76,
from Objects/unicodeobject.c :39:
./Include/object.h:228: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://bugzilla.redhat .com/bugzillafor instructions.
The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.
Any suggestion of what am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Alex

Hi, I remembered reading a MSc thesis about compiling Perl to Java bytecodes (as in java class files). At least, it seems that someone had compiled scheme to java class files quite successfully. I'm wondering if something of such had been attempted in python, as in compiling X language into .pyc. I do not understand the schematics of .pyc files but I assume that they are the so called python bytecode files. Or is there any...

Hey guys (thus begins a book of a post :), I'm in the process of writing a commercial VoIP call monitoring and recording application suite in python and pyrex. Basically, this software sits in a VoIP callcenter-type environment (complete with agent phones and VoIP servers), sniffs voice data off of the network, and allows users to listen into calls. It can record calls as well. The project is about a year and 3 months in the making and...

Hi, I've been thinking about Python vs. Lisp. I've been learning Python the past few months and like it very much. A few years ago I had an AI class where we had to use Lisp, and I absolutely hated it, having learned C++ a few years prior. They didn't teach Lisp at all and instead expected us to learn on our own. I wasn't aware I had to uproot my thought process to "get" it and wound up feeling like a moron. In learning Python I've...

Greetings. In an effort to get python2.4 on my Centos 3.7, I installed the python bootstrap rpm. This installed 2.4 alongside 2.2 and updated yum to 2.4.0. Oddly, it didn't create a symlink 'python' for either 2.2 or 2.4. I also get a series of troubling dependency errors when I run yum update. Below is the output of the bootstrap install, which includes both a failure early on (possibly related to alternatives and/or the symlink?)...

I have found that the sunfreeware.com build of Python 2.4.3 for Solaris 10 is faster than one I can build myself, on the same system. sunfreeware.com doesn't bother showing the options they used to configure and build the software, so does anyone know what the optimal build options are for Solaris 10 (x86)? Here are some pybench/pystone results, and I include the same comparison of Python2.4.3 running on CentOS 4.3 on the same hardware...

Hello All, I am a third year computer science student and I'm the process of selection for my final year project. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
