Hi!
I need to find the selected file(s) in a Windows Explorer window from
another program (I'd look at the window that last had focus). I found
something in the following page that should do the trick: http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/ar...20/188696.aspx
However, it is not Python and, while I'm a competent Python
programmer, Win32, COM and the like are somewhat outside my
competences.
Does any one know how to do something similar in Python?
Tks!

I think the guys on the PyWin32 mailing list were just talking about
something similar earlier this month. Looks like it was how to select
a file in Explorer. You can check out that thread here: http://www.mail-archive.com/py******.../maillist.html
Or just join their mailing list and re-post your question there: http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-win32
They're quite nice and very knowledgeable.

Will do! Tks!

I'm using pygame to write a game called Bombz which needs to save some
data in a directory associated with it. In Unix/Linux I'd probably use
"~/.bombz", in Windows something like
"C:\Documents And Settings\<user>\Applicacation Data\Bombz".
There are plenty of messages in the archives for this group about how to
find the correct location in Windows, but what about Mac OS? There I
don't know the correct location for this sort of thing at...

working well with the Active Directory. The problem I am having is
with adding File Permissions to a directory. I am currently using

At work we are setting up a new web site and had a problem with running a
page when using URL:
\\phoenix\cdrive\inetpub\wwwroot\hrworkshop\index.aspx
It would start up notepad to edit the file.
When I went to IIS and changed the default file to index.aspx, this made it
work fine.

in Windows Explorer/Computer. That is to say, when I am browsing
around my hard drive and get to any location I choose, I want to be
able to select several files, right click my mouse and launch an
application which will act on the selected files.
However, I don't even know where to start and have a number of

Hi,
I develop a win-form application using VB.NET that uses a keyboard hook to
monitor when if the user types SHIFT+Z combination. What I would like to do
is to display a form when the user clicks this keys combination, but only if
the focus is on a file/s in the Windows Explorer. What I mean is that I when
the user select a file/s in the Windows Explorer and type the keys
combination (while the selected file/s are in focus), then the new...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
