Python / Shell script output (log) capturing

2 New Member
Hi,

I have a Python script to upload the Invoice data which is in .csv file to OTM (GLOG) system. I'm running this script using the command(given below) using a shell script and capturing the output to a file (which we are refering as a log).

python TestInvoiceTran sform.py -glUserGid <user> -glPassword <password> -inputFileName TestInvoice.csv -hostname <host url> -mailto <mail id> -smtphost amermsx.med.ge. com > test.log

The output is going to the file fine when the transmission is correct. But when the transmission fails, the actual error message is not going to the log file. I'm able to see this error message on the console, but not getting in my log file.

Can any one help me in this regard.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,
Jithender

This sentence should achieve that:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. sys.stderr = sys.stdout

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. stdin
  2. stdout
  3. stderr
  4. File objects corresponding to the interpreter's standard input, output and error streams. stdin is used for all interpreter input except for scripts but including calls to input() and raw_input(). stdout is used for the output of print and expression statements and for the prompts of input() and raw_input(). The interpreter's own prompts and (almost all of) its error messages go to stderr. stdout and stderr needn't be built-in file objects: any object is acceptable as long as it has a write() method that takes a string argument. (Changing these objects doesn't affect the standard I/O streams of processes executed by os.popen(), os.system() or the exec*() family of functions in the os module.)

Is there anything like script(1) for python interactive sessions. From script(1) manpage: Script makes a typescript of everything printed on your terminal. It is useful for students who need a hardcopy record of an interactive session as proof of an assignment, as the typescript file can be printed out later with lpr(1). If the argument file is given, script saves all dialogue in file. If no file name is given, the typescript is saved...

I'm using python 2.4 running on Fedora Core 4. I have written a python program called ipscan.py that checks the external ip address of my cable internet connection, and on change, will update the dns records at my dns provider, zoneedit. So basically, I've setup dynamic dns using python. Once the ip compare and/or update is complete, I log the results to a text file called update.log. When I run the program in a bash shell with the...

I'm having a bit of a problem trying to install Python on a Solaris 10 system. I didn't have this kind of problem when trying to install it on Solaris 8. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've tried adding CC=gcc into the configure script, and have also tried running ./configure --with-gcc with no luck. I appears that this is dead set to using c++ which isn't working. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
