Caution, newbie approaching...
I'm trying to come up with a very simple Tkinter test application that
consists of a window with a drop-down menu bar at the top and a grid
of colored rectangles filling the remainder of the window. Mind you,
this is a contrived test application to help me understand Tkinter and
Python, not an actual application yet. I've trivially subclassed
Tkinter.Canvas into ColorCanvas, added a bunch of ColorCanvases...

My project uses Python-2.3.4 + Tkinter + PIL-1.1.4 to retrieve images
from server and display those images.
I created a thread (also a separate toplevel window) for displaying
images and another thread for recording the frame rates (using a
progress bar for visulization). The whole application worked very well
once it received image data from the socket.
The problem is when I tried to close that display window (click on the
standard...

How can I quit a smartdevice application ?
After I click the right-hand(up) "X" button in the Pocket
PC 2002 Emulator,it seems that the smartdevice
application has not been closed.
(My smartdevice app has three forms.
Every form has a "X" button which is close to
the time information.)
Why? what happened when I click the button?

Hi,
My VC++ application does not have a titlebar (and therefore no System menu,
no minimize, no maximize
and no close button). We have a custom button for minimize and close.
When the app is in normal/maximized view, clickinng on the taskbar entry
does not minimize the
application. Normally (with apps with titlebar), the application would
minimize when you click on

I'm trying unsuccessfully to do something in Tk that I though would be
easy. After Googling this all day, I think I need some help. I am
admittedly very novice with Tk (I started with it yesterday), so I am
sure I am overlooking something simple.
The basic idea is that my application will consist of a series of modal
dialogs, that are chained together in "wizard" fashion. There will be
some processing in between dialogs, but for the most...

Hi,
I want to write a small system that is transaction based.
I want to split the GUI front end data entry away from the file handling and
record keeping.
Now it seems almost trivially easy using the sockets module to communicate
between machines on the same LAN, so that I want to do the record keeping on one
machine.

I created an MDI form and made a child form.
On the child form I set the Min / Maximize buttons to false.
However when the child form displays, the minimize button and the "restore"
button show.
By clicking the restore button, the child moves back to its design size, and
then you can no longer
maximize it cause then it respects teh min/max false.

hello all,
I seam to have noticed this a bit late but it appears to me that
tkinter is being used very widely for gui development on all platform?
is that right?
since fredric lundh has written a very good introduction to tkinter
(was that just an intro?), I have got keen interest to know the
following. may be fredric himself might put some light on these
points.
1. I seriously don't intend to start a flame war but does tkinter
stand...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
