In using the following struct format I get the size as 593. The same C
struct is 590 if packed on byte boundary and 596 when using pragma
pack(4). I am using pack(4) and added 3 spares at the end to get by.
hdrFormat = '16s 32s 32s B 8s H 8s H 4s H H 20s 64s 64s 64s 32s 32s
64s L L B B B B B 64s 64s'
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Hi all,
I am writing a program using some structs, it is not running and I
believe it is because there's some memory leak - the debugger tells me
that the code causes the problem is in the malloc function.
Is there any general rules that tell me when to allocate memory?
I thought I don't have to if it is a variable that's not a pointer, and
I have to if it is.
I am a bit confused about the arrays particularly.
In normal situations,...

I have a struct that I wrote to test a protocol. The idea I had was
to just declare the elements of the struct in the order in which they
are sent and received as defined by the protocol. However, writing
this struct to a file produces unexpected results.
Here is a test struct I wrote:
struct Tester {
unsigned short first;
unsigned int second;

I recently had to use someone's struct from a native app to receive data over
Udp. The struct has a array member which looked like this:
struct sensorHdr{
char sName;
};
When I tried to make this a managed struct by adding either the value struct
or ref struct I received a compile error stating that mixed types are not
supported. I understand this, but I don't know how to create a char array in

Howdy folks,
I've been working on a c project, compiling using gcc, and I've reached a problem. The assignment requires creation of a two-level directory file system. No files have to be added or deleted, however it must be initialized by a function during run-time to contain so many users which each contain so many directories of which each contain so many files. I've completed the program and have it running flawlessly without implementing...

I would like to write a 'struct'. I have a library that is all but
completely inappropriate for this task.
So I'm looking for C code that fills in the gaps between:
#undef whateverkeithsaysfor99compliance
#define whateverkeithsays for99compliance
int main(void
{
struct foo

Do You know any conversion specification for this. I imagine:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
