How can I set httplib timeout for httplib.request() ?
httplib.request timeouts after 3:10 with "socket" timeout error message.
I found socket.settimeout() and I believe there is a way to add
".settimeout()" function to httplib without hacking httplib source.
Is it possible?

connection = httplib.HTTPConnection(host)
connection.connect()
connection.request('GET', url)
response = connection.getresponse()
# print response.status, response.reason gives '200 OK'

Hi,
I have an app that makes a https POST to a remote server that I have no
control over. The app runs fine in python 2.1.3 with socket.ssl
compiled with openssl-0.9.6, however it will not run in python 2.3.3
compiled with openssl-0.9.7d. The script below demonstrates the problem.
============================================
import httplib
path = "/cmaonline.nsf/ePayForm?OpenForm"

did you solve this problem? It seems to be still present here with
py2.3.5.

This is driving me up the wall... any help would be MUCH appreciated.
I have a module that I've whittled down into a 65-line script in
an attempt to isolate the cause of the problem.
(Real domain names have been removed in everything below.)
SYNOPSIS:
I have 2 target servers, at https://A.com and https://B.com.
I have 2 clients, wget and my python script.

Hi,
Sorry to post what might seem like a trivial problem here, but its
driving me mad!
I have a simple https client that uses httplib to post data to a web
server.
When I post over http & https using curl the data is recieved by the
web server with no problems.

Hello,
The HTTPSConnection class in httplib overload the connect method of
HTTPConnection, but it can only deals with IPv4:
def connect(self):
"Connect to a host on a given (SSL) port."
sock = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM)
sock.connect((self.host, self.port))

Helo,
This is the first time I have cared about httplib's HTTPSConnection.
In the docs I read "Note: HTTPS support is only available if the socket
module was compiled with SSL support."
Although my small test script "seems" to work when connecting to a
webserver via HTTPS I am really not sure.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
