I apologize for what is probably a "stupid", uninformed question but here goes... I just inherited an ASP site project currently running off of a Microsoft Access DB which I'd really like to convert to MySQL/PHP. The only problem is that the site's host only supports Microsoft Access and SQL DBs. MS SQL is simply not an option for us at this time and the site is getting enough traffic that Access's 10 concurrent connection limitation...

I have a solution. I want to clone it to try some different options. Is there a way to open Solution A, save it as Solution B and then be able to try some things in Solution B without affecting Solution A? -- ------------------------------------ Wayne Wengert wayne@wengert.org

Hi We have an access desktop app with front-end/back-end situation where all tables are in the back end and everything else, forms/queries, are in the front end. We would like to make a web app to use the same access database but are worried about access being able to handle web app users. Is it feasible to move the access backend tables to the SQL Server and link the sql server tables in the access front end? It will not help access...

I am by no means a serious programmer (which will become evident as you read this very message), except that I use VBA almost daily to automate Excel spreadsheets. I do enjoy programming however and the only thing that prevented me from learning a language other than VBA is the lack of a project. Until today, I was not sure what I would do if I knew how to program in a language such as Python. I now feel the need to develop a small...

Is the following intuitively feasible in Python: I have an array (I come from C) of identical objects, called sections. These sections have some feature, say a length, measured in mm, which is calculated by a method A_length of the instantiation of the Section's class. Only, two elements in the array (or list ?) have a length that must be calculated according to a totally different procedure, a different function or method. After...

I created an Access 2007 application for my customer. The application is shared by three employees on a server. It maintains a contact list including financial data and social security numbers. Only the office manager generates reports in Access from this client data. Now they want to share this Access application with employees at a remote office. They expect to have a maximum of 30 employees editing the client list in both the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
