porting source code written in C# to python

1 New Member
Hi,

I'm new to this forum and to the python language, but I do have previous experience programming in java and in C+. My aim is to port a GPS navigation program called "Map This!" (http://en.wikibooks.or g/wiki/Map_This%21#Oth er_Platforms) using the source code which was originally written in C#. Porting the program to python should allow me to experiment using "Map This!" with phones that support python scripts and also on a xbox1 system running XBMC (xbox media centre)

Where should I start on a project such as this? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

The ctypes documentation has some examples (I assume that you will still need to call some functions that are implemented in C).

(I apologize in advance if this is not an appropriate posting) I have written a simple windows shareware app, EzPicMailer, in Python 2.3, wxPython 2.4.1, and PIL 1.1.4 that lets computer novices find photo files, edit them, and mail them, all in one simple app. Everyone is encouraged to check out my beta version at http://EzPicMailer.com. I wrote it to be cross-platform except for a small amout of windows code to do the system beep...

Now that the '-*- coding: <charset> -*-' feature has arrived, I'd like to see an addition: # -*- str7bit:True -*- After the source file has been converted to Unicode, cause a parse error if a non-u'' string contains a non-7bit source character. It can be used to ensure that the source file doesn't contain national characters that the program will treat as characters in the current

I am currently in the process of porting some C code into Python and am stuck. I don't claim to be the greatest C/C++ programmer; in fact, my skills at C are rudimentary at best. My question is I have the statement: "typedef unsigned long int word32" and later on: "word32 b" referencing the third bit of the integer. How do I do the same in Python?? If this is a stupid, I apologize. It's amazing what the lack of sleep does to the brain....

Hi all; A few years ago, I set about porting a PHP application from MySQL to PostgreSQL, after realizing that MySQL wasn't going to be able to handle it. In order to do this, I built a light, fast database abstraction layer which conforms to the behavior of the MySQL functions in PHP. This means that a large amount of porting work could be made simple using this porting layer if the application was originally used PHP's native MySQL...

Hi All, We are working on porting a product written in C and C++ from 32 bit to 64 bit. We need to maintain both 32 bit and 64 bit versions in the future. We took the 32 bit source code and copiled it using a 64 bit compiler and fixed all the compilation warnings. Compilation went through fine but the product breaks in lots of places. We understood that porting a 32 bit code to 64 bit platform is not just a matter of compilation. We...

I am trying to rewrite some C source code for a poker hand evaluator in Python. Putting aside all of the comments such as just using the C code, or using SWIG, etc. I have been having problems with my Python code not responding the same way as the C version. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
