Not in general:
>>class Request(object) :
.... user = "somebody"
....
>>request = Request()
request.use r == request.__class __.user
True
>>request.use r = "nobody"
request.use r == request.__class __.user
False

Hi all I have 2 questions 1) is there a way do declare static variables in a class? I coded this logic in global variable foo_cnt 2) is there a way to see the types of all data/function members of a class? dir(cls) returns a list of strings (of members) so it's logical that type(tmp.i) fails ...

What is the rationale behind the decision not to allow abstract static class members? It doesn't seem like it's a logically contradictory concept, or that the implementation would be difficult or near-impossible. It seems like it would be useful. In fact, there's a place in my code that I could make good use of it. So why not? Chris

Why can't I have a static abstract method in C#? My intention is to have a class-level method that returns a string to supply information about inherited classes, and it is natural to make this static so that I don't need an instance in order to call it. However, because my class model is using a common base class, I need to make it abstract too, so that inherited classes are forced to implement it. Am I doing something that can be...

I am trying to build a little Documentation search site, using WebMatrix, Access, and Index Server. I am placing my documentation in individual pages, as Index Server doesn't seem to want to index data that WILL be in the page, when built. It only wants to index what is in the static page. However, I want to access certian data about the document that I have stored in the Access database (even though it won't be indexed).

First of all I apologize in advance if this topic does not exactly fit but if someone could still address it I would appreciate it. My boss tasked me to take out all references of this third party software ie functions, headers, libs and put them in a dll. I recently moved the main functions, the libs, and the includes out of the exe and into the dll. I am using loadlibrary to load the dll into memory and I am using getprocaddress to...

Is it possible to have a static variable in Python - a local variable in a function that retains its value. For example, suppose I have: def set_bit (bit_index, bit_value): static bits = bits = bit_value print "\tBit Array:"

Hi, I want to access a static variable in a staticmethod. The variable can be redefined by derived classes and that should be reflected in base's staticmethod. Consider this trivial example- class Base: staticvar = 'Base' @staticmethod

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
