I have an ASP page that sends a location variabe to the database and
retrieves the appropriate corresponding data. I would like to add a
simple password to open this page.
The page is accessed by selecting a location which opens the page via

Hello,
I am currently working on a Makefile mechanism which can for most
parts create dependencies automatically and look for sources in
other folders than "." .
As a basis, I have been adopting some mechanisms of the way the CDT
plugin for Eclipse handles this. However, at one point, I really don't
get what it's doing:

I'm asking help on this topic of building a tools foundation for future
XML projects because of the sheer volume of possibilities I will not
have the time to check/try/test in detail.
This question is a bit like the ones pertaining to 'Which web framework
to use?', there is a lot of good stuff out there, and often it boils
down to personnal preference, mind-fitting interface and such BUT... to
make it more precise I will give more...

Hello to all the SQLers on the board,
I am looking for some assistance with what will no doubt prove to be a
terrible piece of code.
SELECT *
FROM ((((Assets AS a LEFT JOIN AssetTypes AS e ON a.AssetTypeNumber =
e.AssetTypeNumber)
LEFT JOIN Contacts AS c ON a.ContactNumber = c.ContactNumber)
LEFT JOIN Contacts AS d ON c.ContactParent = d.ContactNumber)

Hi There,
We have a medium size project about 2000 source files and 700,000
lines of code, as you can imagine this takes some time to rebuild all.
Now our problem is that we have a code generator we have developed
that updates some of our classes, as an example lets say I update 50
files. When we do a build the ide builds nearly all of the source
files while we swear and then twiddle our thumbs for a couple of
hours.

Hi there,
A few weeks until I begin my journey towards a degree in Computer
Science at Canterbury University in New Zealand,
Anyway the course tutors are going to be teaching us JAVA wth bluej and
I was wondering if anyone here would be able to give me some tips for
young players such as myself, for learning the language.
Is this the best Newsgroup for support with JAVA?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
