dpkg -L <package-name>

will list the contents of the package at question.

Doc packages usually reside under

/usr/shar/doc/<package-name>

Hello, I tried to read in some large ascii files (200MB-2GB) in Python using scipy.io.read_array, but it did not work as I expected. The whole idea was to find a fast Python routine to read in arbitrary ascii files, to replace Yorick (which I use right now and which is really fast, but not as general as Python). The problem with scipy.io.read_array was, that it is really slow, returns errors when trying to process large files and it...

HI - Sorry for maybe a too simple a question but I googled and also checked my reference O'Reilly Learning Python book and I did not find a satisfactory answer. When I use readlines, what happens if the number of lines is huge? I have a very big file (4GB) I want to read in, but I'm sure there must be some limitation to readlines and I'd like to know how it is handled by python. I am using it like this:

After failing on a yield/iterator-continuation problem in Python (see below) I tried the Ruby (1.8.2) language first time on that construct: The example tries to convert a block callback interface (Net::FTP.retrbinary) into a read()-like iterator function in order to virtualize the existing FTP class as kind of file system. 4 bytes max per read in this first simple test below. But it fails on the second continuation with ThreadError after...

Hi there, I am trying to use pyserial to read data from a temperature logger device (T-logger). T-logger is based on the DS1615 temperature recorder chip (Dallas Semiconductor). According to the DS1615 docs, writing to the chip is performed one byte at a time. To read from the chip, one must issue the "read page" command (33h), followed by the two-byte address of the requested page (pages are 32 bytes long). After receiving this, the...

Hi! I wanted to use python to test a simple character device (on linux) and I'm running into strange behaviour of read.. I have a short buffer inside my device and the idea is that it blocks read's when the buffer is empty. For reads that ask for more characters that the buffer holds the device should return the number of bytes actually read... In c i can write:

I posted this on the forum, but nobody seems to know the solution: http://python-forum.org/py/viewtopic.php?t=5230 I have a zip file that is several GB in size, and one of the files inside of it is several GB in size. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
