Hello,
I need to read data from a MS Access database.
The program (reader) is installed on a linux box and
is written in python langage.
The database is MS Access 2002 installed on a Win XP box
networked with the linux box.
Is it possible for python/linux to read data from MS Access
Database ?

I tried to read in some large ascii files (200MB-2GB) in Python using
scipy.io.read_array, but it did not work as I expected. The whole idea
was to find a fast Python routine to read in arbitrary ascii files, to
replace Yorick (which I use right now and which is really fast, but not
as general as Python). The problem with scipy.io.read_array was, that it
is really slow, returns errors when trying to process large files and it...

Greetings,
I'm trying to read (japanese) chars from a file. While doing so
I encounter that a char with length 2 is returned. Is this to be
expected or is there something wrong?
Basically it's this what I'm doing:

Sorry for maybe a too simple a question but I googled and also checked my
reference O'Reilly Learning Python
book and I did not find a satisfactory answer.
When I use readlines, what happens if the number of lines is huge? I have
a very big file (4GB) I want to
read in, but I'm sure there must be some limitation to readlines and I'd
like to know how it is handled by python.

(Net::FTP.retrbinary) into a read()-like iterator function in order to

I have a short buffer inside my device and the idea is that it blocks
read's when the buffer is empty. For reads that ask for more characters
that the buffer holds the device should return the number of bytes
