Hello
I'd like to write a GUI app in Python exclusively for Windows.
Apparently, development of PythonWin has stopped a long time ago.
Is there another thin wrapper to write apps in Windows? I'd rather not
have to ship eg. WxWidgets, GTK+, or QT.
Thank you. 2 1775

Well shipping wxWidgets isn't a big deal. If you are already requiring
python be installed, then a wxWidgets dll is trivial. Even better, if
you are using py2exe, then the wxWidgets dll and module will all be
wrapped cleanly in the exe, so I think it's a clear winner. Users
needn't know anything about wxWidgets or have to install it. Bundling
wxWidgets in your python app adds a couple of megabytes to the size.
Certainly you're not going to want to do native win32 GUI development,
even in python. wxWidgets is an order of magnitude better for doing
this, methinks.

I'm not sure why you would think so. The latest pywin32 release came out
in September, and supports Python 2.2 through 2.6.
However, PythonWin isn't really a framework for writing GUI Python apps.
It's more of an IDE for Python.

If you are comfortable with the Win32 API and MFC, pywin32 includes a
relatively thin wrapper around MFC. It's quite possible to write GUI apps
using it, and there are several good examples.
I'm not sure that I'd prefer it to wxPython, however.

here is some code to add right click context menus.
in the few apps I've edited sofar, it just works, once
you run rCbinder with the root of the gui or bind B3
all present and future widgets will have right click.
there will be a line something like
root=Tk.mainloop() #or Tkinter.mainloop()
in epydoc it was necessary to look into the gui class
and find one of the attributes has the root.

I'm a little confused. I was under the impression (perhaps incorrectly)
that Tkinter will create GUI widgets that are native to your OS, so I
should have an XPish looking application. But when I create buttons (and
even the text fields look a bit different), they are not the 'fancy'
Windows buttons that are rectangular with rounded edges and have a
blueish border around the active button, but instead are just square
buttons. Is this normal...

Hello
Since Python is such a productive language, I'd really like to be
able to use it to write GUI apps for Windows, but business apps
require rich widgets like (DB)grids, calendars, etc.
The ones available in wxWidgets looked a bit too basic compared to
what's available for eg. Delphi or .Net, and don't seem to be under
active development (lots of "1.0", "Last updated 2005", etc.)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
