I'm starting a new project and am thinking of embedding my unit tests
right in the source files. I've used unittest before, and I'm happy
with it, but I've always used it with the source code in one file and
the unit tests in another. I figure if I just put a
if __name__ == '__main__":
import unittest
blah, blah, blah
block at the end of each source file, I'll end up with a cleaner
project structure. I can run the unit tests just by executing each
source file. Any comments from people who have organized their Python
projects this way? Did it work out well?
It seems like what you give up is the ability to aggregate tests in a
hierarchy of test suites. In theory, that sounds like something you
might want to do, but in practice, I've never found it that useful, so
I don't think I'll miss it.
I know about doctest, but I'm happy with unittest and don't see any
reason to change. 0 955 This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hi all ya unit-testing experts there :)
Code I'm working on has to parse large and complex files and detect
equally complex and large amount of errors before the contents of the file
is fed to module interpreting it. First I created a unit-test class named
TestLoad which loaded, say, 40 files of which about 10 are correct and
other 30 files contained over 20 different types of errors. Different
methods on the TestLoad class were coded so...

I've written a web application that uses the M.P.E.D namespace to do
all of its data layer tasks (and a nifty bit of code M.P.E.D is too!).
However, unit-testing is proving a bit of a problem, as the database
factory complains...

I am looking for a C++ unit testing program. I googled and found there are
quite a few there, such as CppTest, C++Test, and DejaGnu. Can someone give
me a recommendation among these programs? I want to the software is easy to
use and has a nice interface. Please excuse me if it is out of the topic.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Currently, I've got all my unit tests in a separate class in the same
project.
Instead of this, I'm planning to move all my tests in a separate project
in a single
solution.
For example let "TargetProject" is the main project in a solution. My plan
is to have another project, for example "TestTargetProject" that will

Hi,
In an effort to improve my own code and try to teach others that I work with
that unit testing IS MANDATORY. I'm interested in examples of unit testing
that other people are using.
How many folks rely on NUNIT?
Do you create a testing class per application, per class, per assembly to
exercise your code?

Hello,
I am attempting to utilize the MVP pattern in a new app I am building.
I am using TDD, along with mock views attached to the View interface to
attempt to unit test the UI. The problem I am having is when using the
InitView() of the presenter, normally I would be retrieving data from
NHibernate when InitView is called.
Therein lies the problem, I can't seem to figure out how to properly

I released version 2.0 of C++ Unit Test Library. You can download
it from SourceForget.Net at http://sourceforge.net/projects/cppunittest/
..
I wrote this unit test library because other unit test frameworks
always lacked features I considered important. Some only provided
output in certain formats, and I had no easy way to choose my own
format. Most provided no protection against exceptions. Only a few
were useful for unit-testing...

Hello,
I'm after doing some C++ unit testing, I'm using CppUnit. I like the
look of RudeMocks, but it doesn't work for Solaris/Sparc, so its no
good to me sadly.
So, I have class A, and it uses classes B and C. B and C have methods
A uses, but they're not virtual, and I don't want to hack the code so
that they are just to allow Unit Tests to work. This means that
inheriting from B and C to provide Mock classes is a non starter.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
