I found this nice Tkinter tutorial, http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/py4fun/gui/tkPhone.html
but midway I'm getting an error.

Hmm, there must have been an update to that tutorial after you read it:
"""
>>b1 = Button(win,text ="One") b2 = Button(win,text ="Two")
The class Button takes the parent window as the first argument. As we will
see later other objects, such as frames, may also act as parents. The rest
of the arguments are passed by keyword and are all optional.

That worked. Thank you.

Hi everybody,
I'm using QuickTimeTcl (3.1) to be able to play movie files in my Tkinter
application (Python 2.3.2) on Windows 2000. I was planning to write a
simple wrapper class, QuickTimeMovie, that would wrap up the QuickTimeTcl
Tcl extension as a Python class. All seems to work pretty fine until the
Tkinter application is closed, when the Python interpreter crashes with an
error of the following kind:
The instruction at...

Hi,
I was reading through the Tkinter tutorial at
http://www.pythonware.com/library/tkinter/introduction/index.htm ...and
it mentions that by doing,
from Tkinter import *
you have access to the constants in Tkconstants, since Tkinter imports
it automatically.

Good Morning.
I am new to Tkinter. I have been testing the installation of Tkinter
through the python web site. The first two test steps give no errors,
'import _tkinter' and 'import Tkinter'. However, the third step,
'Tkinter._test', gives the error:
<function _test at 0xb7ec8df4>
Any suggestions?

Hello:
Below I have included a stripped down version of the GUI I am working on.
It contains 2 dialog boxes - one main and one settings. It has the following
problems, probably all related, that I am hoping someone knows what I am
doing wrong:
1) Pressing the Settings.. Button multiple times, brings up many instances
of the Settings Panel. I just want it to bring up one. Is there an easy
way to do that?

Hi, I just tried to run Tkinter on OS X 10.3.9 under Python 2.4.3, and
I'm getting a bus error as soon as I call Tk(). Googling has turned up
info other Tkinter bus errors, but not this one that occurs right away,
before doing anything fancy.
Tk/Tcl is definitely installed on my computer, as verified by running
"wish" and seeing the window come up. "info patchlevel" returns 8.4.5.
Here's the tail of the output from python -v:

I'm trying to manage user preferences in a Tkinter application by
initializing some values that can then be configured from a GUI. The
values are set up as a dict, like so:
self.prefs= {
'interface': '-en1',
'verbose': '-v',
'fontname': 'Courier',
'point': 12,

I'm trying to decide whether I need threads in my Tkinter application or
not. My app is a front end to a command-line tool; it feeds commands to
the command-line program, then reads its output and displays it in a
Tkinter text widget. Some of the commands are long-running and/or return
thousands of lines of output.
I initially thought I needed to use threading, because the GUI would
block when reading the output, even when I configured...

Hi,
One of my python program needs tkinter to be installed to run
successfully.
I am using Redhat 9.0 and hence tried installing by copying the
tkinter-2.2.2-36.i386.rpm
alone from the CD 3 to my pc. But, it is not getting installed and is
failing by throwing
the below errors. Should i need to configure / install any specific
files for resolving this issue ?

I'm having trouble with tkinter on a new installation of Python (2.6),
built with the framework option from source that was downloaded from
python.org. I'm running OS 10.4 on a PowerPC G4.
The problem first arose when I tried to run matplotlib - it couldn't
find tcl/tk because it was searching for 8.5, and I had 8.4. I found
and built tcl/tk 8.5, which led to a new error, reproduced below:

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
