This would be suspicious-looking except I don't see any advertising.
I can't tell what article is being refered to and email addresses are not allowed in posts. I guess that I'll just let this one sink to the bottom (unless, of course, the OP decides to reply)....

Pythonistas, My loyal fans :-) will remember that I did a Python IDE roundup for _Charming Python_ a couple years back. Now I have another such roundup lined up... not the very next article, but it's there on the list. In the intervening years, I've hardly touched anything one might call an IDE. I've looked at screenshots from time to time, and read various announcements. But really I just use text editors and command lines.

Thought some folks here might find this one interesting. No great revelations, just a fairly sensible piece on writing readable code :) The whole article: http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=271&page=1 The section specifically on white space: http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=271&page=3 Cheers,

No joy on Macromedia's boards after a few days; maybe someone can help me here. I got an excellent string handling function off of planet-source-code.com that converts text strings to proper case, i.e. "the REMAINS of the DAY" is converted to "The Remains Of The Day". This function is particularly good in that it handles certain exceptions. Can you help me make it handle more? I'm interested in two tweaks, one easy, one hard.

Please excuse the cross-post - I'm pretty sure I've had interest in the article on all the groups this is posted to. I've finally managed to finish my article on multi-threading - at least for the moment. I'd be *very* grateful if people with any interest in multi-threading would read it (even just bits of it - it's somewhat long to go through the whole thing!) to check for accuracy, effectiveness of examples, etc. Feel free to mail...

http://www.bazon.net/mishoo/articles.epl?art_id=824 Do you think this could cause an effect such as a page with pulsating scroll bars? So bad that the mouse cannot pull the scroll bar down down to show remaing parts of the page? It is too busy pulsating. -- George Hester _________________________________

I am trying to split up and secure a database that we've been using on a network for a few years, following the procedure listed in Q304932 from microsoft. I create a new blank database for the front end, and am able to import tables and link from the backend. Queries come in ok too. When I tried to import Modules, forms, and reports, most of them failed with the error: "File Not Found:...

I ran into an interesting re-pain delay after calling the Abort() method on a thread, but it only happens the very first time I call it. Every time afterward, there is no delay. I've got a delegate inside the UI that I call to update the progress meter. I use the Suspend() and Abort() methods based on button events. I can watch the progress meter increase just fine when the thread is running. When I select Start, I enable the Cancel...

I came across a rather interesting article this morning and thought I'd share. We all know that Visual Studio is a great IDE, but I think we can all agree that it is adds a dramatic change to how we write code. I'm not posting to talk trash or start a flamewar, just wanting feedback in regards to the following article. I happen to use Visual Studio on a daily basis and am not a John Rivers alter-ego. ...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
