Tip: 'Open IPython here' in Windows context menu

Based on the idea from 'Open Command Window Here' utility from MS - add a
context menu item, which allows you to open IPython in selected directory.

---cut-here---
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Cl asses\Folder\sh ell\ipython]
@="IPython here"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Cl asses\Folder\sh ell\ipython\com mand]
@="\"C:\\Progra m Files\\JPSoft\\ TCMD8\\tcmd.exe \" /k cd %L & C:\\Python
\\Scripts\\ipyt hon.py"
---cut-here---

Save this as a "something. reg" file, doubleclick it and import into
Windows registry. And that's it. While in Windows Explorer, right click
any directory, and select "Ipython here" item...

Btw, as you can see, I'm not using ordinary Windows cmd.exe, instead of it
I use Take Command by JPsoft. If you want to use cmd.exe instead, just
replace tcmd.exe path, with cmd.exes'.

Hope this will be usefull to someone...

Hi, I'm new to python, and ipython, but not to programming, having trouble getting ipython installed on windows 2000, python 233. Any help would be much appreciated; I'm sure I'm being some basic flavor of dense... First downloaded and installed PythonWin, readline and ctypes. They're all pretty clearly here and working, because I can run PythonWin, and from there, importing readline and ctypes works. Then downloaded ipython-0.6.6.zip...

I've written an article on IPython which is now live on O'Reilly's ONLamp site at http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/python/2005/01/27/ipython.html. All feedback is welcome. Regardless of what you may think of the article, I hope it encourages everyone to at least try out IPython. IPython has become an indispensible tool in my toolbox. I cannot say enough great things about it. Jeremy Jones

"Open .Net Command Window Here" context menu for Windows Explorer: The reg file described below adds a new menu item to Windows Explorer's context menu when you right-click over a folder (or the drive root). The menu item text is "Open .Net Command Window Here". When you click it, it opens a command window positioned at that directory and runs the vsvars32.bat file to set the .Net Framework environment variable settings. This makes it...

Hi all, I have a small problem with IPython shell on Windows. If I run 'python C:\python\scripts\ipython -p pysh' from cmd.exe or directly from Run dialog, I don't get any output from 'shell' commands like ddir. If I run ipython shell from 4NT, ddir and similar commands work fine. Python version is 2.4.3 and IPython version is 0.6.15.

Hi, How is the default path chosen in this instance: myFile = file('test.txt','w') Here I'm opening/creating a file but I have not specified the exact path, so how does Python determine where to 'put' this file? More to the point, how do I change what the default path is? Right now it's a networked drive that should not be getting my Python clutter.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
