Problem embedding the Python interpreter and importing win32 extensions

I have been playing around with this issue for a while and seen some previous posting trying to address the problem but I haven't seen any answers to the problem so I am reposting it in my quest for a solution.

I am using python 2.2.3, because I am using some dSpace software (controldesk/automationdesk) that is based upon that version of python. I have some pre-compiled python modules that come with the dspace applications. I am pretty sure that those modules use win32com or pythoncom. I want to use those modules from a C/C++ application or DLL via an embedded interpreter. I can make it work, but it only works once. I get an error trying to import those modules again, even after uninitializing the interpreter (Py_Initialize) and re-initializing it (Py_Uninitializ e). I thought may be using a new sub-interpreter would help but it doesn't so now I have no idea what I could try. Any ideas?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm working on a python plugin for someone else's code written in C. On the whole, I'm successfully embedding the python interpreter, importing the python module, creating python classes and using their methods.

I embed python interpreters in a C++ program. For each script to execute I create a new interpreter. In this environment I can use the win32 extensions only one time. Here is a little piece of code to illustrate the problem: int main(int argc, char **argv) { Py_Initialize(); Py_SetProgramName(argv);

I am embedding python in my C++ application. I am using Python *2.3.2* with a C++ extention DLL in multi-threaded environment. I am using SWIG-1.3.19 to generate C++ to Python interface. Now to explain it in details, 1. Python initialization and finalization is done in the *main* thread. 2. For each new thread I create a separate sub-interpreter . 3. Using PyRun_String("import myModule"...) before execution of python

Anyone know a good way to embed python within python? Now before you tell me that's silly, let me explain what I'd like to do. I'd like to allow user-defined scriptable objects. I'd like to give them access to modify pieces of my classes. I'd like to disallow access to pretty much the rest of the modules.

Hi Folks, I currenty extended some of my C++ functionality to python and also embedded python to use python functionality in my C++ system (and use as well these extended functions). While this works fine with the core python functionality, as soon as I run a script (on the embedded system) which tries to import modules which are not in the core system, like "xml" or "re", it fails and says it cannot find the related dll (for example...

Hi Folks: I have a question about the use of static members in Python/C extensions. Take the simple example from the "Extending and Embedding the Python Interpreter" docs: A simple module method: static PyObject * spam_system(PyObject *self, PyObject *args)

Hi experts- I have a potential use case of embedding Python where it must co- operate with the host c/c++ application in a single thread. That is, the c code and python interpreter need to cooperate and time share, or yield to each other. The main loop would need to do something like: check for events

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
