how to control file output encoding?

the encoding of file that is output by the file.write() function is
always None.
and the encoding attribute of the File Object is readonly.

f = open('abc.txt', 'w')
print f.encoding
>>None
how can I change the file output encoding?

Use the `open()` function in the `codecs` module:

import codecs
f = codecs.open('ab c.txt', 'w', 'utf-8')

I have some unicode (utf8) text file. I _tried_ to write a simple program that read one of them and write it to the standard output but... of course it doesn't work. There is an easy way to do it? Thanks, K. This is my program. #include <fstream> #include <iostream> #include <string>

I am pretty much lost here - I am trying to create a managed c++ wrapper for this dll, so that I can use it from c#/vb.net, however, it does not conform to any standard style of coding I have seen. It is almost like it is trying to implement it's own COM interfaces... below is the header, and a link to the dll+code: Zip file with header, example, and DLL:...

I have a custom control that builds what we refer to as "Formlets" around some content in a page. These are basically content "wrapper" sections that are tables that have a colored header and provide an open TD with a DIV in it for the content of this formlet. (The DIV is for DHTML to hide and show the content) I've created a web page showing step by step the two problems I'm encountering. This problem is much easier to see than it...

I have an aspx page with a data grid, some textboxes, and an update button. This page also has one html input element with type=file (not inside the data grid and runat=server). The update button will verify the information that has been entered and updates the data base if the data is correct. Update will throw an exception if the data is not validate based on some given rules. I also have a custom error handling page to show the...

Well I had a way to write an array to an excel spreadsheet but on a huge time critical run it failed iwth the dreaded HRESULT: 0x800A03EC error. It worked fine when i sampled the data to go in but when it all tried to go in it bombed. So I need to write this to a tab delimited file and I sure hope somebody is awake tonight. How do I write my dataset to make a tab delimted text file?

I am writing a quick program to edit a binary file that contains file paths (amongst other things). If I look at the files in notepad, they look like: <gibberish>file//g:\pathtofile1<gibberish>file//g:\pathtofile2<gibberish> etc. I want to remove the "g:\" from the file paths. I wrote a console app that successfully reads the file and writes a duplicate of it, but fails for some reason to do the "replacing" of the "g:\". The code...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
