Hi,
I'm sure this issue has been brought up a billion times... but I'm
having trouble installing a python module. I have read all the
documentation for all the buzz words I know related to this problem
but to no avail.
Basically I downloaded a python module called pymad. This module is
supposed to be simplified API to libmad (an mp3 decoder) (I want to
play mp3's from python).

I can install Python 2.4 on the Fedora 3 Linux system, but after I do a
number of Linux utilities and commands, like yum, stop working because
they were dependent on the Python 2.3 installation. What happens is that
Python 2.4 replaces the /usr/bin/python module with the Python 2.4
version. If I replace /usr/bin/python with the Python 2.3 version
executable, which is still on my system, that all the aforesaid modules
depend on, they start...

I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work.
Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in
general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000
Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is
reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported
on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having
succeeded in doing it.
I have tried...

I'm posting this message here, so that someone googling here will be
able to find it.
I was having problems installing cx_Oracle on Solaris. The build would
fail with a message:
> ld: fatal: file /apps/oracle/prod/9.2/lib/libclntsh.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
I found the solution on Grig Gheorghiu's blog. Grig had similar
problems when installing on UNIX, specifically AIX. You can find his

I cannot yet get tkinter working on 2.4.2. I have installed the tk rpms
from FC4. I have checked to see that TKPATH is available in
Modules/Setup.
How can I verify that I have tcl/tk installed correctly and it is the
correct version (8+)?

Hi,
I am having hard time with installing MySQLdb on Linux.
My Python version is 2.3. I have downloaded
"MySQL-python-1.2.1_p2.tar.gz" from sourceforge. The README file
asks for MySQL installation. My MySql server is on another box. That is
why I think I should to install just the MySql client (am I right?).
My Linux is "Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant)"

I have installed "TurboGears" and I would install 'pysqlite' also. I am
a user on a Linux machine. If I try to install the 'pysqlite' with
'easy_install' tool I get the next error message. The error message is
longer than what I send here.
% easy_install pysqlite
Searching for pysqlite

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
